By hard alcohol I mean an alcoholic drink that has more than 35° of alcohol? Which one and why?

I am leaning forward to vodka in mixed drinks. It tastes like glory with juices, or tonic water + pint of a fruit. But I prefer tequila in straight shots.

What's your preference OT?

I always have a fondness for tequilla straight-up. No lime, no salt, no margaritas--just some friends and a couple of shot glasses.

My uncle's home distilled hooch. It's gotta be at least 80% pure alc. I get a bit crazy when I drink that stuff though.

Vodka, it goes good with virtually everything. It's also the only hard liquor I do straight too. Tequila is good but I prefer it with salt and limes. Whiskey I may have liked in another life, but there was an incident a few years ago that probably turned me off of it for good.

Man, why the hatin' on Sake, lol. I actually love--especially when you can get your hands on genuinely imported ones from Japan. We got this store called World Market where I live and it sells all kinds of things from (food, home decor, housewares, etc.) from different places around the world and they actually have a pretty diverse alcohol beverages section w/ wines, beers, and the best selection of sake I've seen in my area. But sake is more of my indulgence alcoholic beverage (like wine).

But if we're talking hard liquors I'd say my favorite straight up one would be Rum (preferably Bacardi or Cpt. Morgan) or Gin. It's so many different good flavor varieties for Rum it's not hard to drink it straight. And Gin has been a alcoholic staple in my family for years, lol. That was always the drink I remember my mama (rest her soul) and daddy drinking since I was kid (well, that and Crown Royale), hell I think I first drank when I was about 8 or so when my daddy would let me take little baby sips out of glass, lol.

Is Amaretto over 35%? If so that. When I was in Cuba just 3 months ago my friend got his waterbottle filled by the bartender and I took half it and drank it straight...so delicious. On this subject I would like to say that I can't drink beer or tequila, my body won't let me. Every time I have either, I have to throw up, yuck. I like rum for mixing, cause it doesn't really have flavour, which is great for hangovers.

Vodka is my liquor of choice. When it's good vodka on the rocks, it's absolutely amazing.

Everclear isn't as scary as people make it out to be. I don't even think they make it in the 95% anymore. It's on the same proof level as Bacardi 151 and I'd rather have that. They both taste like gasoline, but they can be great mixed and Bacardi 151 is a least a sweeter liquor than Everclear.

OMG....I soo thought about saying Amaretto, too!! And if I'm not mistaken, yeah it is around 35% or so. In the states, Amaretto is only sold in liquor stores, which definitely means it meets the 'hard liquor' status (at least where I live). I usually only drink it around special occasion (I usually tend to get a bottle around my b-day) and holiday season (anywhere from Thanksgiving thru New Years). So freakin' delicious....no lie. :P

Going out right now to enjo more than a few captain morgN and Ginger ales. Greatest mixed drink on the planet. For shots I will do anything except Jameson. For all those who are curious about sake, your not missing much a friend of mine went to japan and brought back three bottles of the stuff. We all drank it at a party and it wasn't very popular. It did however turn us all into nasty drunks for some reason! It seems overrated and not as strong as it is supposed to be I still say tequila is the go to weapon of choice for those looking to go supernova on drinking night

Whiskey. Not really a fan of vodka unless it's in sprite.
