As of now, I have 100,000, but currently:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pLIBWyFBIg

Dvorak's New World Symphony, 3rd movement.

How about you?

**NOTE** For all of you music scholars out there, it can be from any time period -- baroque, ****cal, romantic, or contemporary. I put ****cal in the title, because it is a genre in and of itself, as well as a time period. Cheers.

I don't think anyone on the face of our planet would consider that "classical music" as most people would recognize it as.

The whole of Billy Budd. Mind blowing stuff. Only if it's conducted by Britten, though. If not, UGH. Horrid, insulting abomination.

Thchaikovsky's Symphony no. 6 "Pathetique' is the most powerful and intensely tragic piece of music I've ever heard.

Canon by Johann Pachelbel was a difficult piece when I was learning it on the violin, but I learned to love it. Once in a while, I listen through Jacques Offenbach's Orpheus of the Underworld (including the can-can). Other than that, I really don't know much more about classical music.

Don Giovanni by Mozart -- my favorite opera, really gets inside of my head

Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony

Debussy's L'Après-midi d'un Faune

There's too many to pick just one.

Yep... that's another good one... at least the parts that were actually written by Mozart. Sussmayr's portions aren't as good by a long-shot.

I am not too familiar with the history of the piece other than it was unfinished, I just really love Lacrimosa. Did Mozart write that?

Gymnopedia- Eric Satie

One

Two.

Three

I may have 1 and 3 mixed up. Epic music anyway. One of the very first pieces I learned when I started playing classical guitar.

Not all of it. He wrote up to the eight bar. The vast majority of that part was written by Sussmayr. However, I also like that part, and that's probably the strongest contribution to the piece made by Sussmayr. Most of the rest of what he contributed could be taken out of the score and forgotten forever for all I care. His Benedictus and Sanctus were very jeuvenile, and the ending fugue he shared between those two pieces is probably among the worst fugues I've heard.

When you hear the Domine Jesu Christe and Domine Hostias, both written by Mozart, and the absolutely brilliant retrograde fugue he wrote to share between their endings, and then move into Sussmayr's Sanctus, Benedictus, and shared ending fugue, you really feel the stark contract. It's unmistakeable.

"Oh bliss! Bliss and heaven! Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh. It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now. As I slooshied, I knew such lovely pictures!" Hearing it preformed live was one of the greatest musical experiences of my life. It was also my first real date with my GF. Absolute perfection.
If you haven't got the reference yet, it is a quote from Alex DeLarge about Beethoven's 9th Symphony.
Chopins' Piano Sonata No. 2....my favorite for a very long time and it hasn't changed. The Funeral March gets the most attention, but I think all the movements are flawless.

Well the 9th symphony can make me cry when it is performed right,

1812 overture will always have a special place in my heart because its one of the 1st i ever heard and loved it forever then when they used it in V for Vendetta it was magnificent.

I dont think you would catergorise it asCl***cal music but its a very old song and when i heard it in instrumental with bagpipes and drums it can soothe me anytime and its a beautiful tune,

I just so happened to be listening to my personal favorite classical song today on my Iphone.

Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky

Part 1:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gZbMOq_Ge8

Part 2:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGdK9jpn19w&feature=related

Part 3:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M16zasqydUE&feature=related

I know the first time i heard this was from Fantasia, but it was put together so damn well that i cannot de-link the imagry and the music. It fits so perfectly together.

and another part of the reason i love the song is it reminds me of life in general. the general struggle.

It's not pretty, but life itself isn't pretty.

It is however an amazing journey.

and thus i cannot get over how great the orchestra goes together.

Oh gosh there's so many for so many different reasons and moods, but the one I probably listen to the most often would be Dmitri Shostakovich's Violin Concerto No. 1.
