Mine is JFK. There was some thread on why JFK was so important some guy asked. Well for one, he avoided a nuclear cotastrophy. Number two he put us on
the moon. Finally, he told all of Germany that he was indeed a jelly doughnut.

It has to be JFK for all the reasons you've said and more. I still can't believe he shot himself though.MushroomWigLMAO. Shot himself!??! It was more like an assasination attempt.

[QUOTE="raven_squad"]FDR and JFK. KC_HokieI vomited in my mouth when you said FDR. Umm why? FDR is one of the best presidents of all-time. Trust me, if he lived then America wouldn't be facing the problems that it's having today. In terms of economy, FDR is the best by far.
[QUOTE="MushroomWig"][QUOTE="Morrdecai"] Did you pay attention is history class? :?MorrdecaiWhat? I remember seeing it on TV. -_- Why do I even bother
It's right here.
George W. Bush...
I can't imagine going back to the way things were before we were fighting 2 wars and in tillions of debt... debt is good people! and war keeps our troops in shape...
i'd hate to think of a country where school systems actually require kids to perform to pass a grade... thank God for no child left behind... education isn't nearly as important as people say anyway... kids can learn just as much from TV as they can from learning books. this is America people... if you want a fancy education, go to a communist country like Japan or France.
and most of all, God Bless the Patiot Act... which tells us that the government should be able to spy on us, punish us at anytime without a trial, and most importantly... lock up any and all middle-eastern people... i think its just the government's way of being more like God... after all, we all know that Jesus was an American born in Texas...and that he hates the middle east...ahhhh... America...land of the free, home of(only) thepro-war, pro-torture, Christians...
:P

The economy in the 1930s under FDR wasn't good with GDP being nearly flat. His 'new deal' programs were band-aids as it took WWII to get the U.S. out of severe recession.

EDIT: I don't think any president back in the day could do anything about it lmao. FDR did ALOT and no other president would have done as much as he did. Don't blame FDR, blame the Congress. Did you know Congress is more powerful than the president?

I guess you just dont know how the economy worked. FDR's economic strategy was Keynesian economics. There is no evidence that style of economics has ever worked. Just one example, Federal spending increased by a billion dollars between 1937 and 1938....the GDP actually decreased.
It took WWII to get the U.S. out of severe recession not FDR.
*shakes head*Morrdecai
On a serious note though, he was my favourite president and I wish he wasn't killed.

Yup. But I didn't say FDR was the one that took em out of recession. I editted my above post btw. The economic troubles that we are having today would and NEVER be as bad as back in the day THANKS TO FDR. It was just too late for him to apply the New Deal and other new laws to prevent the recession.[QUOTE="KC_Hokie"]FDR's economic strategic was Keynesian economics. KC_Hokie
Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
The man is not remarkable. He was not an A college student, he was not brilliant in any specific way. He was willing to admit his mistakes on public radio - in a period when a President could be treated as a human being and not a demi-God.
Had the great depression, many of his programs were not that great but they were getting things done. People can **** about the Tennessee Valley Authority being a waste of money... those dam's are still working to this day generating power. I think they paid themselves off...
Then there was World War II.
Very much the way he handled things, whilst being an unremarkable gentleman is why i admire him so much.
He isn't a Bush Jr. - i'm gonna have a beer with you - type of person either.
Followed by
Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy for the major crisis's they had to deal with.
Teddy & Franklin Roosevelt, Abraham and Andrew Jackson.
Jackson and his Jacksonian Democracy = I don't put up with your ****
He kept the brazen North Carolina in check
Washington. Elected and re-elected with 100% of the electoral vote (no one has done that since). They wanted to make the guy a king, and he turned them down.
