So this past Sunday I made another trip to Cedar Point in order to say goodbye to one of, if not my FAVORITE coasters: The Mantis. They are unfortunately tearing it down after this year despite it still running great and it STILL being one of the best rides in the park.

In light of The Mantis's closure, I figured it would be interesting to see what OT's favorite thrill rides are. Being I only have experience with Cedar Point, the two I would mention are both at Cedar Point of course.

The Mantis:

What are OT's favs?

I love Cedar point, but haven't been in a while, since the year the Top Thrill Dragster opened actually. I was at King's Island a couple of weekends ago and they're starting to give CP a run for their money. In no particular order:

  • Top Thrill Dragster
  • Millennium Force
  • Flight of Fear
  • The Banshee
  • Raptor
  • The Beast
  • Diamondback
  • The Vortex

Not a huge fan of roller coasters so I really like the Harry Potter rides (the hogwarts castle and escape from gringotts) and also the spiderman ride :)

FYI, I don't believe they are actually tearing down the Mantis. They are just replacing the vehicle to be a sit down, feet hanging type thing. But, I won't mourn the loss. I actually think it's one of the weaker Roller Coasters at Cedar Point (at least, in comparison to Millennium Force, Gatekeeper, Top Speed Dragster).

Millennium Force is my favorite ride.

Ahhh I need to go to that Harry Potter park sometime!

May I ask WHY you are not a fan of coasters? Are you scared of them?

Yeah, and also honestly the speed kind of makes me sick too, like sick to my stomach. (i also hate how long the wait is for a ride that lasts 40 seconds, heh)

Two of my favorites were when we lived in San Antonio, Texas. we went to Fiesta Texas very often.

There is this ride call the Frisbee, that was right across from the Ferris Wheel. my parents and younger sister would ride the Ferris Wheel, while my older sister and i would ride the Frisbee nonstop until the my parents had finished the Ferris Wheel. was just fun.

The other was the Scream. i had a love hate relationship with it. its one of those rides, you regret the second it starts, but after its over, you love it.
Apparently, there are now three versions of this ride.1. shoot to the top real fast then bounce down.
2. Slow ride up to the top, then free fall down
3. a mixture of both. shoot to top, free fall down, go back to top and bounce down.

When we went there, the only option they did was number 3. i guess over time they changed things.
Vid for reference.

I've never been to an amusement park after I turned six something that I'm glad it turned out this way as the whole thing appears too stupid to me now.

I don't really do thrill rides. I went to cedar point for the 4th of July and only rode blue streak and the Rapids water ride. My ex worked at cedar point and loved all the rides I just waiting in line with her lol.

Never been to amusement parks for the purpose of being amused ever since I was 9.

The few times I had to go to such places for the sake of friends nothing really amazed me so... Can't tell.
