The greastest basslines always come out of funk.
My pick would have to be stuart zender's bassline from Jamiroquai's Canned Heat

Agreed. Geddy Lee has some serious skill and imo, he is very underrated. :D
Seinfeld theme duh!....haha no I like the opening bass for Megadeth's Peace Sells (But who's buying?)
I would almost say every bassline from Louis Johnson, Bernard Edwards, Davide Romani or Derrick Graves (Philly Sound) is a winner IMHO.
But if I have to choose a favourite one: Celebrations - The Brothers Johnson (Louis Johnson) - he uses two distinctive funk (slap and sabre)sounds in order to make a single bassline. Funky as funkydadelidoo...
By bass do you mean the actual instrument or like the bass in Drum'n'bass?
Mine would either be "Totally addicted to bass" by Puretone or that song mention earlier by alice in chains.
Green day has no talent, and there songs have no skill. Everything they play is so basic and simple. Geddy lee has some good bass line songs too I thinkLongview Green Day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42BBdzzgPNM
Just listen to it.

Romantic Rights by DFA1979. I love the noisy intro, and the main riff is just insane.

Death From Above 1979. That was my pick or ANY Red Hot Chilli Peppers song.
Welp, this is entirely opinionated since you chose to add "favourite" in the title, so not everybody's will be derived from funk.
Off the top of my head, my favorites would include
Little Sunflower by Jeff Schmidt,
Teen Town by Micahel Manring
and the more conventional
National Anthem by Radiohead.
There are countless others though.
I am SHOCKED that no one has said "Another One Bites the Dust" yet. Its clearly the most iconic and recognizable bassline ever.
