I said Joe Satriani as well Awsomesauce!

People will post garbage shredders like buckethead and batio with no feeling in their music and call them the best. Sad people...like those who think ACDC are better than Queen.

*sigh* Buckethead is far from just a "garbage shredder". He's very versatile and has quite a few acoustic albums along with electric. That being said I agree with you about the emotionless speed guitarists. I can't stand them either.

My favorite guitarist is J Mascis from Dinosaur Jr. I just love his style especially on "You're Living All Over Me".

Buckethead is interesting but I can't get into his music, I find it boring and hes really boring, he just stands in 1 spot and plays. As far as shredders go hes awesome but I prefer Gilbert.

Actually he did this nunchuck thing on stage one time that was cool and I love when he plays acoustic guitar.

I remember someone sent me a youtube link to Guthrie Govan and I thought he was amazing. I looked for his album everywhere but I could not find it. It was even sold out on his website.

I'm actually not much of a fan of Buckethead's music either. He really doesn't have any stage presence as you said. I was just trying to make a point that he does more than shred. And yes, guitarists like Paul Gilbert will always be better in my eyes as well.

If you still haven't listened to it all of it I really suggest you do. You might want to keep checking his website to see if it is in stock if you want to buy it.

Brian Haner, Jr., also known as Synyster Gates in Avenged Sevenfold. They're my favourite band, so that would make sense.

I laughed when I heard he died too!

On Topic, though. I'd have to go with Slash, because he's in Guitar Hero 8)

You're even worse than him.

Eddie Van Halen for his guitar skills but I don't like Van Halen's poppy music. John Frusciante is probably what got me into blues/funk. His simple but catchy guitar licks were awesome to learn.

Randy Rhoads - What can i say a man whos life was cut down way too short , quit possibly could of been one of the greatest players ever with so much emotion in his playing his bends just scream at you . I still to this day get goosebumps every time i listen to "Mr.Crowley".RIP

Dave Mustaine - Say what you want this guitarist has mixed feelings due to his former band Metallica . But i look at his talent is undeniable for a man to be apart of one of the biggest bands ever to get kicked out and create and faster ,rawer , and more intense band with crazy riffing . Dave Mustaine The riff king , for him to play and sing songs like Good morning black Friday and Devils island and others is awesome he has influenced me alot .

Jimmi page - You cant play guitar and not appreciate this giants skill his solos so full of emotion and his playing style so clean true legend ...

But their is no greatest guitar player where one is weak another is stronger in that area . it all comes down to personal preference.

Adam Jones - Tool, 'nuff said.

Tom Morello - all about rhythm and creativity
