There's a few ways in the modern world to tell a story nowadays, but which way do you prefer to experience a story?

I'd definitely have to go for Video Games. When a game concentrates heavily on a story, and it turns out to be a good one, nothing beats the feeling of a personal placement within the story and the world it's created. When a story heavy game involves story changing choices that you personally have to make, it's one of the most engaging ways of telling it's tale, I believe.

I' ll have to agree with you on the video games. Very close for me are movies and books as well though.

One of video games' greatest advantages is that you ARE the protagonist and can sometimes even shape the outcome rather than getting a completely fixed story like in books and movies.

Books are much more able to lead to character development consistently compared to the rest and ultimately better stories.

Video games are my favorite medium in general. The problem though is that they generally have crap stories.

Books are by far the best medium, but I find myself more drawn to movies/tv because it tends to be more engaging. It also helps that there are a lot of really good shows available on TV these days.

I prefer video games because they are the most immersive out of the choices in the poll.

I generally care for the storytelling in movies and TV series more.

For video games I care more about gameplay, though the stories in them can sometimes be a nice bonus.

Film, video games and books are all really close for me. I'd say books are my favorite though for really learning about the story and getting all the details. For entertainment I'd say movies / tv.

It's why I categorised them as best as I could. Illustrations and Motion Pictures tend to give off the same vibe. A live action TV show for example tells its story in a similar way to a live action movie. Just that TV shows often stretch the story out.

I can't help having only 5 poll options. And if you think video games can't tell good stories, you need to play more video games. ;)

Coming from someone who likes a pony show for little girls, I'm not exactly sure you're the right person to be talking about good stories.

And I've likely played way more games than you.

I did say once that I believe a lot of people read just to be different. I didn't say every single person who reads is like that, as that would be very untrue. That's a different subject all together though.

I have a friend who basically does everything that the minority likes. There's a long list of things I could bring up, but at one point he was telling me how much movies suck and how the book is always better. So I was in the mood to question this mindset and see what other people thought of it.

Pfft, I'm the only one who voted for live theatre.

As for video games, they can be good - The Walking Dead and Spec Ops: The Line come to mind immediately, but there are a lot of ones that quite frankly aren't that good, and that's the rule rather than the exception.

I think it's pretty telling when people point to games like Uncharted 2 (an unremarkable story that's simply executed and presented well), Metal Gear Solid (good ideas and themes but sloppily told), and God of War 3 (storyline is just atrocious) as examples of good stories in games.
