I was a big fan of Rugrats, Scooby-Doo, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Power Puff Girls, Johnny Bravo, etc. Pretty much anything that was on Cartoon Network in the late 90's/early 2000's.

That was when Cartoon Network was actually good!

@Byshop: You've got a great list there. 80's cartoons were something I wish I grew up with. Especially old-school TMNT was pretty cool from the stuff I've seen. :)

Also, don't hate but just to add. I enjoyed Care Bears. (Pretty sure it was The Care Bears Family. Nelvana version that I watched.)

@dakalo: Ahhh, I forgot Power Rangers. Back when they used to sell the costumes too. I think my favourite was Red & Black. Pretty sure Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie was my fav growing up. Or the one with the kid as one of the rangers. (Or wanting to be one.) Forgot what that was called.

I've got the best one.

All those programs Byshop just listed...

Imagine there was a satirical tv program about all the other programs on kids tv, on kids tv.

By the people who did the puppets for Spitting Image, I present.

Round the Bend

Taking the format of a talk show with a crocodile in a sewer behind a desk presenting sketches. Best thing on kids tv then. Also Maid Marion and her Merry Men had Tony Robinson. What more can you ask for?

Loading Video...

So childish but still genuine satire. I would say it's probably the only ever example of a children's satirical tv show.

Imagine Battlestar Galactica with animals. Where instead of Cylons constantly attacking them it's stuff like cute hedgehogs getting squished as they freeze in terror.

@speeny: I just watched it. Round the Bend is pretty bad really. It's made by the makers of a comic which is interesting and the puppets are made by the Spitting Image puppet makers. It's not as good as Spitting Image though.

It's like fart jokes. But it was very refreshing at the time and quite unique and there are some good jokes in there along with all the bad ones.

Maid Marrion and her Merry Men is arguably a better show.

Never was a huge cartoon fan, but growing up I watched a hell of a lot of Three’s Company sitcom reruns.

All of these cartoons, and no mention of cartoons from the Golden Age of Animation?! Sacrilege!

While I do love the cartoons from the '80s, the classic cartoon shorts from MGM and Warner Bros.' Merrie Melodies/Looney Tunes shorts was--and still are awesome. Where else were you gonna see cartoons where it was perfectly fine to crack someone upside their head repeatedly?

Or how to take a 12 gague straight to the face?

You won't see this on an episode of SpongeBob, that's for damn sure!

@davillain-: Great list.

Thanks. In short, Saturday Morning Cartoons was the best thing before other networks started showing other cartoons and this was before we had Cartoon Network here in the U.S.

Also, I updated my list with Batman the Animation, Mainframe, and Tom & Jerry original cartoon.

To be honest, I wasn't all interest in Looney Tunes at all. But I did like Tiny Toons Adventures though & I was presently surprise I actually like Space Jam despite I wasn't into Looney Tunes.

YOU GODLESS HEATHEN! BEGONE!!!

Tiny Toons, Animanics, and Freakazoid were also great. A good amount of shows from Warner Bros. Animation in the '90s was good.

But Space Jam was absolute trash, and I will go to my grave speaking the truth on that. Jordan can't act--or even emote to save his life, and the whole thing felt like nothing more than an 90 minute Nike commercial. It felt so cynical and corporate, it wasn't even funny.

But but it had Bill Murray though :)

But yeah, I was only a brat when it came out who didn't know better, but after re-watching it again in my 19 years, I can see why some people said it's bad and it shows. I thought that Back in Action was the much better movie, although it bombed at the box office.

Fun fact: WB was about to make another Looney Tune live action movie called Skate Jam starring Tony Hawks. When Back in Action flop, WB back away from making Skate Jam.

It;s pancake day p-p-pancake day. Maid Marrion herself is extremely annoying.

There are lots of innuendos for the mums and dads.

I read about that the other day...ugh. The whole idea behind Space Jam and that proposed movie with Tony Hawk sounds like something that's nothing more than bad ideas that either comes from a studio's advertising division, or an exec who is trying to be "EXTREME!"

Back in Action was definitely better than Space Jam, but still came off as a half-baked idea. I think it works better with a straight-out animated project, there's no need to mix in live-action. But with the announced revival of Looney Tunes in their original short subject format, MAYBE they can get it right.
