I hate every single person who even considers making me pay more for my Internet. The Internet should be free to everyone, imo, because of its usefulness and how necessary it has become.

[QUOTE="mrbojangles25"][QUOTE="Ace6301"] Because net Neutrality would put the internet into the hands of businesses my good chap, because when people say they don't want the government censoring the internet they clearly would rather be charged out the ass by big business for it!xromad01
precisely.
I trust my government a helluva lot more than I do internet companies, especially given the history of how my internet company (Charter) has treated me and pretty much everyone I know.
i have heard alot of complaints about charter from friends who live in other parts of the country but i have yet to have a single problem with their service the past 14 years or so.my wife doesn't use the pc that much but with myself and 3 kids each having a computer, there is obviously alot of traffic.but we have yet to have any problems as far as bandwidth restrictions or even any tech problems. however, once i tried verizon, after a few weeks i recieved a letter saying my service would be terminated due to excessive usage. my only question about pay as go. how would wifi work?what if someone uses the neighbor's internet connection,or stays in a hotel and steals internet from someone else.Charter is good when it is working, I wont deny them credit for that.
It is just the little things. The costs have gone up about 25 cents every month since Ive used them; that doesnt seem like a lot, but when I started I was paying 25 dollars a month, now I am paying 44 or so.
The quality of internet fluctuates constantly; while it might work 90% of the time, it only works well for a fraction of that time.
Their service sucks as well; I swear, theyre really good for the first month or two but once they got you in, they must flip a switch to "crap" or something because its gone down the hole.
There is a reason Charter is facing bankruptycy, and the fact that they see bullcrap like the above FCC plans as their salvation frightens me.
Wouldn't this just force people to use the internet less? It seems like a horrible thing for both the customer and people who make money off of advertisements.
You want loads of people to work with keeping internet servers up for free, :?I hate every single person who even considers making me pay more for my Internet. The Internet should be free to everyone, imo, because of its usefulness and how necessary it has become.

That's what happens when you put democrats in charge of things. But surely all you net surfers don't pay your fair share, so this is just to ensure that.
I doubt this will pass - lawsuits would immediately result.
ISPs garner enough fees as it is.
Google would protest quickly, as traffic for searches and YouTube would drop to next to nothing, and Netflix would lose a fortune without anyone ordering streaming movies.
we pay what they ask us to pay. How is that not fair? Honestly this is really only good for internet providers, but it screws over customers and everybody that makes money through websites. That's what happens when you put democrats in charge of things. Anything is possible, but of course I think this would fail. The payment plans for ISPs is pretty well established. If they started charging pay as you go, most likely, they'd lose business.
Wait, pay-as-you-go would kill the Digital Downloading of games, patches, video drivers, Windows updates, the whole nine yards.:o
Microsoft would protest this, considering they have a huge download library.
I can't wait until someone figures out how to create a virus that makes you look like you're using more data over the Internet than you actually are, causing bills to skyrocket.
Hell, I think I just found out how to skip out on my Internet bills if this passes!
Or someone does the opposite and figures out a way to make it look like your using less data than you acutally areI can't wait until someone figures out how to create a virus that makes you look like you're using more data over the Internet than you actually are, causing bills to skyrocket.

I doubt it will happen tons of companies are going to challenge it.

Netflix would be on the brink of annihilation if this passes imo
Or someone does the opposite and figures out a way to make it look like your using less data than you acutally are I'd bet good money that someone would release a program like that to counter this new pricing plan.[QUOTE="THE_DRUGGIE"]

I feel some people fail to see the big picture in this. This would severely hurt buisnesses, job production, and severely hurt any American influence in terms of internet development. We'd basically get knocked down to 3rd world status when it comes to the internet (very very few people having it and contributing to it.) in my opinion.
But the US screwing over the majority for the benefit of one or two companies is par for the course.
