I took my motorcycle safety course a few weekends ago, and got my bike last weekend. Anyways Ive been riding on the streets and am pretty confident "weaving" through traffic and such...not so much though that I let my guard down. Here is a link for the bike I boughthttp://orangecounty.craigslist.org/mcy/1877840299.htmlpaid $1200 for it....Good deal?

I just crashed my bike a few weeks ago. Watch out for big gravel patches around sharp turns! Boken bones and bruised ribs suck! Also, buy a good full face helmet. Your head is totally worth the extra cost. also a good riding jacket, pants, and gloves are also a good idea. (I was not wearing a jacket when I crashed and I thoroughly regret it.

mines got a "racing clutch" on it, it doesn't catch until ive released it like 95%, the previous owner set it up as a track bike....but it makes shifting gears a breeze and super smooth...

Stay away from semi-trucks. Seriously.

I just realized what kind of bike you are getting. BE CAREFUL! You can kill yourself on one of those things. I honestly think that is a bad choice for a first bike.

He could kill himself on any bike, so at least he got a good deal on it :P. More money left over to put in the will.

Highway bars work wonders to protect your bike, and you have a different location to move your legs and feet to prevent fatigue.

I ride a Harley Road King.

Mod your bike to make it as loud as possible so people can hear you. You know, for safety purposes. It amazed me how many people still manage to ignore or not see me when I'm on my bike.

ya, i rode a 250cc during my msf course, and I would have gotten bored with it in a few weeks, I haven't been on the freeway yet, and watch my speed, although I was going 90 in a 65 ha.....I've really noticed though, that you HAVE to assume that NOBODY sees you! weaving through traffic is super fun, but pretty dangerous

Wear a helmet! I never feel sorry for a douche who crashes while not wearing a helmet. I say, if you are not responsible enough to wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle, then you are not responsible enough to ride a motorcycle.

Go as fast as you can down the road that way you can get to your destination faster and be on the road for a shorter time=less dangerous!
