[QUOTE="solidruss"]

[QUOTE="Hallenbeck77"] As far as the other monsters, I'm wondering if they're going to have original creatures or some of the old favorites. King Ghidorah would kick ass, but I got a feeling that may be saved for the sequel if this is a hit.Hallenbeck77

My first thought was Mothra, since for some strange reason was a hit. Hoping that's not the case. I don't need any CG big ass moth :P

Mothra has a certain charm, especially when those two micro machine sized girls showed up in the older movies, but it's hard to it seriously in a fight.

True, we could always hope for Mechagodzilla! :P

It was always a treat whenever those movies came on TV. Netflix has a couple of the older ones for streaming, and Crackle.com has most--if not-all of them from the millennium era.

Crackle? For real? I'll have to check that out I watched a bunch of Barney Miller episodes a few months ago, classic stuff

Looks nice, and if they want the original tone of the first movie it could be REALLY interesting. That film is still fun and moody to watch. That said, I actually enjoyed watching the Zilla movie. :P Sure it wasn't good but it was still enjoyable, if that makes sense.

[QUOTE="Oleg_Huzwog"]Looks closer to old-school Godzilla, and less like the overgrown T-Rex version from the 90's.Oleg_Huzwog

I liked the overgrown T-Rex version. I also loved the camp of that movie, such as the Ebert/Siskel parody and the stupid reporter fighting. The fact that they blamed it all on the French Government's nuclear testing was just a hilarious take on the original premise. I watched it again during the years when the Bush government was contending with France (the era when some congressman wanted to rename "French Fries" to "Freedom Fries"), and I wondered how much better the film would have been received if it had just been released a few years later with the new political climate. Either way it was comically stupid, and enhanced my enjoyment of the film.

It was something of a "so bad it's good" film for me.

"The fish! They've eaten all the fish!"

I think a bulky, clumsy 'Zilla would've heightened the comedy value of that movie even more.  The overgrown T-Rex version was a little too nimble for me.

You guys are such Godzilla noobs. That overgrown T-rex version wasn't even Godzilla. Godzilla killed that thing in Final Wars. :P I do agree though, that movie was comically stupid.

So... can we expect a trailer today or will we not get to see it just like last year? :(

Last years trailer never even got leaked. I was so disappointed.

I agree with all of the above but have to keep in mind that none of that was intentional. :P

Here's the Godzilla Encounter footage.

It's only the final part in which you see the monster.

That was effing awesome. I know Cloverfield kinda sucked, but a handheld-cam version of Godzilla could actually be decent. Even though that was a cheesy ad, it was still tense!

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure a handheld-cam version of a Godzilla movie would work. It would seem just way too constricting visually, especially when fighting another monster. Something like that would be too epic to film in just that style.

Truth. Not handheld-only by any means. Hell, maybe forget the handheld idea entirely, I just really liked the personal portrayal of events. It's way more tense. You can feel their fear and sense of WTF IS GOING ON moreso than you can from traditional wideshot hollywood angles.

I didn't like Pacific Rim at all but I'm very interested to see this - if only because of how good the director's last film was.
