[QUOTE="TheShadowLord07"][QUOTE="Lucien-Lachance"] lol an eye for an eyexaos
makes the whole world blind
And a flag for a flag makes the whole world... ummm... less flaggy? I am suddenly remembering the Simpsons where Milhouse vomited on the flag and Kent Brockman talked about how upsetting it was to "flag hags".that would happen to happened at their school now would it?
I can remember on futruama when zoidberg ate the american flag which started a war. omg that was funny. I wonder if I ate the american flag on memorail day. would that a start between US and India? :P
honestly TC honestly
this upsets me, and i have sertian choice words i can not share but let me tell you this
they will get theirs on saturday you watch, go usa go usa!
You're British?People actually fly UK flags by me here in the US. I see tons of homes that have the US flag on one side of the garage and the UK on the other. Seems kinda odd, but hey it's better than burning one. :P The UK flag? You mean the Union Jack. Plus, Union Jack =/= St George's Cross.[QUOTE="Snipes_2"][QUOTE="T_P_O"] If you do, come around my neighbourhood, I'm sick of seeing them out of everyone's windows.Pirate700

[QUOTE="Snipes_2"][QUOTE="Pirate700"]I agree. I think we should burn their flag now. You do that. Just don't ever gripe about flag burning after you do. I thought it wasn't disrespectful or anything to burn a flag? Why would they be bothered by it?It's disgusting.

Nah. The adventure you'll have trying to pass that flag through your system will be enough punishment.

I'm pretty sure they aren't the only people in their country.
If someone isn't offended by their flag being burnt, then there's no use trying to explain it to them. It is a visceral reaction that I have when I see something like that, akin to a pit in my stomach because of the disrespect that it shows. I don't care if it's soccer fans or idiotic anarchist protestors here at home, it's upsetting. Sure, some people see a piece of cloth, but I see a lot more than that.

If I burned their flag, I wouldn't complain. I would be stooping down to their level then.[QUOTE="QuistisTrepe_"]hurr hurr, says the guy on the internet. The hilarious thing is if people knew anything about these situations they would know that they have been expressing their case in an intelligent way, it's only this type of display that gets attention though...
Again see Glazers - they single handedly put the richest club in the world in debt.
[QUOTE="Oleg_Huzwog"]
[QUOTE="taj7575"]Soccer fans, especially British soccer fans are pretty stupid sometimes. You can't use them as an example for all British people though.

Not all, just half. In my American mind, I picture half of England is comprised of hooligans, and the other half behaves exactly like something out of a Jane Austen novel.
I had a friend who lived in London for a few years and came back, and no lie, but he said almost the same damn thing as you did

You insulted there methods ("Cant say i blame you") Yet look how effective its been. It's not the flag... it's what it represents. And which was in no way damaged by the actions of a handful of goofballs. Edit: Hell, I'd argue that the freedom to burn the flag is part of what the flag itself represents; mind... blown![QUOTE="35cent"]

I'll let people burn the flag all day because that's one freedom it represents, and I reserve the right to absolutely hate those scumbags because of their actions, another thing the flag represents.[QUOTE="35cent"]

i know its just the stereotype :p
Really? This group of myopic peasants took it upon themselves to desecrate the American flag – the Stars and Stripes which represents 300 million people – on the basis of two men's actions (or in some cases, inaction)?

lol are you serious. its obvious that they dont care if the flag reps. 300 million people.

Donovan says "Hi" Actually praised a lot over their. Cant wait for the US to beat ENGLAND...again.Maybe if Americans would stop ruining English clubs they wouldn't do that. Glazers I'm looking at you...

We go way back, America and the UK. We've fought wars against each other and won ones side by side, and I'm proud to call some of my best friends Englishmen. To those noble English folks who can understand what it would feel like to watch a bunch of Yanks burning the flag of St. George in a public melee, I look forward to a spirited match on Saturday and may the best team on the day win.
But for those 500 or so Liverpool supporters (and most likely fans of the Three Lions) who simply acted before they really thought about what their actions meant to an entire nation, you've embarrassed your country, your club and your Queen.
Yeah, I said it.
What the author in the link said pretty much covers it.
And I agree with Pirate, it's disgusting.
The Queen and Parliament should be saying something about this...we are their best ally, saved their butts in two World Wars.:?

1.) The queen is A-political and not allowed to make statements bout other nations. E.g the USA sent her a birthday card on the wrong date last week, but she wasn't allowed to comment about it as she cannot openly release a statement about another nation.
2.) Why should parliment apologize? they didn't burn the flag, the people thatburnt the flags actions arn't held accountble to MP's.
3.) You didn't save are butts in the War's we ad a far larger standing army and Navy than the USA.
4.) Your an ally thats dragged us into wars no-one in this country supports and most of the population want us to pull out. (Even bowing to public pressure and withdrawing from Iraq)
5.) It's a flag it only has as much power as an individual holds to it. Which I know in America is quite alot due to cultural diffrences e.g Pledge of alegance wheras the British public wouldn't really care if someone burnt a Uk flag as we hold less revrence for a flag.
I mean Ireland doesn't complain (To much)even tho theres basically a public holiday in Northern Irelandwhere people celebrate not being Irish and burn Irish flags.

Uhm..I said flying the flag is a sign of Respect. Why would I agree and then tell him to show respect for the same thing I agreed with?Yeesh... the British take soccer waaayyyy too seriously >.>SetsaSome do, not all. :P Just like anywhere else.

1). You can Blame Obama for that. He represent America now (Sadly). 2). It's a sign of total disrespect for another country. If 500 Americans burned a British Flag I'm sure Obama would make it a point to kiss the Queens Rear End as soon as possible 3). The United States military is the second largest in the world, after the People's Liberation Army of China, and has troops deployed around the globe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_armed_forces#History 4). Lol What? No one said you had to join in any War. If you're an ally its expected of you to help out though. I wouldn't say you were "Dragged" in, I do recall multiple terrorist bombings. In the end you decide whether or not to join in. 5). Yes, The Flag is Held in High esteem here. Therefore, they should have respected it in stead of burning it.Please Log In to post.
