Nirvana ftw
Foo Fighters are good, I just prefer Nirvana over them. Foo Fighters are post-grunge, while Nirvana is grunge.
wait a sec.... what?Neither is very good, but if I have to pick, Foo Fighters. Nirvana just...well, sucks ass.
Elephant_Couple
yeah...I think that after "in your honor" they died....Nirvana. Foo Fighters havent been good in a LONG time their last few albums have been complete crap
VendettaRed07
Early Smashing Pumpkins.

i do love me some gish and siamese dream.
i would take nirvana. in utero is one of my all time favorite albums and they had so many b-sides that i really like. the foo fighters first album was pure gold though.
on a side note, dave recently said the foo's will be workingwith butch vig on their next album to commemerate the 20th anniversery of "nevermind" which is awesome. for those that don't know butch vig produced the album, he was also the drummer for garbage which was another great band of the 90's.
Nirvana. As much as I like Dave Grohl, the best thing he's recorded since Nirvana was with Queens of the Stone Age…

hell yeah, and as much i like them crooked vultures it's certainly time for another queens album.

I actually heard that Heavy Metal album he released was pretty good too.
Foo Fighters. A straight-forward, no nonsense arena rock band that doesn't try to be anything they're not. Quite enjoyable for the most part.
Whereas Nirvana often tried too hard a was limited in effectiveness and were very hit or miss from song to song. Also, the hype around Nirvana has made them out to be something they're not, and while it's slightly unfair to include that in this argument, it's not something I can look past while listening to Nirvana's music. All in all they have some good songs, but not many, and there's quite a lot of filler.
Nirvana. Kurt Cobain's lyrics are have more depth and gravity behind them then Grohl's.
I really like Everlong, but I like a lot more Nirvana songs a lot more.
What's really impressive about Nirvana is the fact that a lot of the songs were very minimalist. Technically speaking, they aren't that hard to play or understand, but what they convey goes far beyond the sum of the parts.
Foo Fighters gets kinda grating after a while.
Nirvana is a better band and has a much more impressive catalogue.
Nirvana since Foo Fighter is purely a mainstream band even though Nirvana became mainstream they didn't become it willingly.
Kurt Cobain's lyrics are have more depth and gravity behind them then Grohl's.
starfox15
90% heroin-fuelled rantings.
them crooked vultures.
Never got into Nirvana. Been to several Foo concerts and they were all great times. Foo wins for me.
yeah that's why he got choosen as the 13th best guitarrist of all time...Kurt Cobain was a talentless hack
valereth-1
[QUOTE="valereth-1"]yeah that's why he got choosen as the 13th best guitarrist of all time... If Kurt Cobain is the 13th best guitarist of all time, I'm a top ten synthesizer. Fun fact: he was voted into such a category because he's popular, not because he was any good. He had the ability to write good, simple pop songs, and merged those songs with a grunge sound. Yet, so did dozens of others. My Chemical Romance was voted the greatest band of all time, but it's hard to take such sweeping rankings seriously. Falling back to other people's equally educated opinions isn't a solid defense. Just saying.Kurt Cobain was a talentless hack

Yeah. Kurt himself said he's the first person to say he's no virtuoso. He then said something like "I can't play like Yngwie Malmasteen but then he probably can't play like me either."
