This is based puerly on match atmosphere.

And I don't think anyone could even argue otherwise on this point but i'm going to back it up with videos from my country of origons (Northern Ireland) national teams fans.

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=xz3LzZWFzUI&feature=related (3k fans before the match in the gran canaries)

Other before match in most cases out of stadium action:

I bet Oakland Raider or Cowboy Fans are ten times more extreme than that.

Does anybody remember the 49ers fan that got stabbed by Oakland fans, for wearing the 49ers uniform to the game between the two teams?

I'm a fan of both sports. I've played both. So I can't really decide on which is better. I can however tell you that in the states, american football holds the crown when it comes to popularity. However, I'm surprised how much bigger MLS is becoming. The world over, soccer is the bigger sport.

if american football players didnt wear pads we would have the potential for a fatality on every play.

i mean, take a rugby player and have him stand there and have patrick willis running at him full speed directly at his rib cage from 50 yards away. People who hate football and want to argue about it will ignore what I just said.No pads for willis either.

Soccer is much better in my opinion. American football is one of the most boring sports I've ever watched. I played it in high school, but I can't watch it. The games last 3 hours and there's maybe 30 minutes of action. The rest of the time is spent in the huddle or commercials. At least with soccer there's no commercials except at half time and something is always going on since the clock doesn't stop.

theres an hour of inplay activity. part of the beauty of football is the suspense of what the next play will be.

The thing I don't like about american throwball, is that play seems to stop every 10 secconds. It could actually be an alright game if the play actually flowed, rather than the constant stopping and starting.

US football crowds get pretty rowdy too. But I would'nt boast when fans of a sport will riot because their team looses. That seems like a bunch of morons running and fighting each other over a just a game. Nothing against the peaceful soccer fans.

I was just guessing at 30 minutes, but 1/3 of the game having activity still is pretty rough. I just think the commercials ruin the game. Watching a few minutes of fast food, truck, and male enhancement ads just ruins it for me. I do have a lot of respect for the sport, and it was a hell of a lot of fun to play. Being at the game is much better of course.

I think soccer is the greatest sport ever invented so far in our history. You could go 90 minutes without there being a single goal and it still could be the most exciting match you've ever seen. That's just my opinion though. I know everyone is different so YMMV.

I think it's arguable that the reason they hit so hard is because of the pads, rather than the reason they wear pads is because they hit so hard. Wearing all that armor gives people a false sense of security and encourages riskier actions.

Although i do prefer football(soccer) over american football this isn't about which we prefer it is about the atmosphere at games and i would have to say football(soccer) is king when it comes to atmosphere at games i have never seen or been to a match of any other sport that can match a top football(soccer) atmosphere although a Welsh rugby international game comes close.

Check this video

All sports have scary fanatics.

And no one can say which has a greater feeling, because honestly, I'd be bored with soccer(a sport where it's possible to end the game in a tie? really?) and many soccer fans would be bored with American Football(too complicated I guess).

While soccer is pretty entertaining, American football is far superior IMO. I got to Ohio State Michigan every year and have never seen an atmosphere at a sports event (or any event) quite that amazing. Or a Browns/Steelers game back at the old stadium in Cleveland sitting in the Dogpound. Great times those were. Now the Pound is weak.

nah most of the world actualy calls it:

"the stupid thing only americans like" :P

and while I like soccer I kinda don't really like to watch it. Playing it is great, but just watching is meh (but then again thats my view on all sports, I love playing basketball, soccer, tenis etc, but watching it is just boring, well except F1 I kinda like watching that one^^) althrough I do try to keep up with the scores of my favorite teams.

I don't normally watch football (a whole game anyway, I may watch a few minutes or a quarter or so), but I watched The Cowboys/Eagles game on MNF. That game was INCREDIBLE. Sure, the Eagles lost (4th and 17, of course you make a short pass. *roll*), but it was still a fantastic game.

I still like soccer, but it's pretty even between the two.

Takes more skill to play with a ball at your feet than with a ball in hand. Also, I would use sloppy to describe the way American football players throw themselves at each other.

I guess if you stare at the 0-0s the entire game, it might get a little boring, but otherwise, it has no real impact on the game as far as excitement goes.

That is true, but to have an exceptional game is a game that is triple-overtime, edge-of-your seat exciting. The kind where you know someone is going to win and you hope to god it's your team. If everyone just goes home at the end how is there any finality?

[QUOTE="Gamer556"]Soccer is a sloppy game and is boring to watch.SolidSnake35
Takes more skill to play with a ball at your feet than with a ball in hand. Also, I would use sloppy to describe the way American football players throw themselves at each other.

It doesn't take more skill to play one sport over another. You can become equally great at anything.

No, there are people that can't play good football (soccer), no matter how much they try.
