It doesn't take more skill to play one sport over another. You can become equally great at anything.
No, there are people that can't play good football (soccer), no matter how much they try.I absolutely suck at golf. Are you telling me that I can never become a decent golf player, no matter how hard I try?

so soccer is better than real football, b/c of it's fans? swing and a miss. I don't even know how a soccer game is played. I never understood the fascination with it. Now football may seem mindless on the outside. But there are so many plays and routes and steps you need to know. In soccer, you really don't think about getting dove on by a 300 pound lineman. Real football is so much more demanding

I thought it was. Always nice to have confirmation though.I think football is way better than american football. In fact, I can't stand the NFL or college football. I just hate it, i think it's stupid.
As for the atmosphere of the fans, football wins hands down. Mexico fans are somewhat crazy, but the real craziness is in South American with Brazil and Argentina.

All sports have scary fanatics.
And no one can say which has a greater feeling, because honestly, I'd be bored with soccer(a sport where it's possible to end the game in a tie? really?) and many soccer fans would be bored with American Football(too complicated I guess).
You don't need goals for a football (soccer) game to be a good one...[QUOTE="H8sMikeMoore"]if american football players didnt wear pads we would have the potential for a fatality on every play.i mean, take a rugby player and have him stand there and have patrick willis running at him full speed directly at his rib cage from 50 yards away. I think it's arguable that the reason they hit so hard is because of the pads, rather than the reason they wear pads is because they hit so hard. Wearing all that armor gives people a false sense of security and encourages riskier actions.
umm...no. Play no pads backyard football with a ( any skill level ) football player and they still play physical. Thats what football's all about.

if you add professional competitiveness to it with no pads youre gonna get the same thing.
actually the nfl (even though theyres pads) has unwritten rules about how to hit each other because its almost garunteed youre gonna be injured pretty severely. Tom Brady just go put down for the seaso because the guy who sacked him hit too low. I strongly believe football to be the most physically demanding sport, rough and strategic.

God, Texas is ridiculous about "throwball". Even at our High School games a few thousand people would come and watch. They were some insane times.I prefer futebol too, one of the best sports to watch on tv simply because of the lack of commercials. Can be lame to watch when it's just falta falta falta falta though. I like American football too, but it's generally less fun to watch -- the recent chargers vs broncos game was pretty good though.

its not sloppy at all, every aspect of "throwball" is planned. If theres one thing you cant say about american football is that its sloppy. The game is the most strategic sport there is. And the skill argument is highly debatable. Theres a lot more to american football than there is soccer, and I cant imagine you saying otherwise if you ever watched a game.
Explain, what skills do you need for American football?depends on your position. A quarterback has not only all the pressure before the snap, but he has to have the ability to know what he has to do with the ball, when, and to trust his offensive linemen to not let eleven guys swarm him to the ground.
Defensive positions require that you make split second decisions based on where the play is moving b/c they pretty much guess.
Not to mention the fact that someone on the field has to sprint the ball at some point, that may be after thay catch it from 60 yards away.
Don't assume football is mindless hitting. It's more like intense chess. You need to move you "pieces" and plan three steps ahead, all the while trying not to be stomped into the dirt.
not to mention if the defense thinks the offense is going to run and theyre going to pass they have to either call an audible or when the ball is snapped they have to adjust everything as they go, which can be very hectic. I wsa never a defensive player myself but that must be stressful
Yup, I agree completely. I can never understand the people who say football is mindless hitting. There's so much work that goes into reading plays, making adjustments etc.
Victory is ours, gentlemen.

Explain, what skills do you need for American football? Oh look! a funny one! *claps*...It wasnt supposed to be funny. It was a facepalm for how dumb you sounded.
I could also say at the same time "what do soccer players do? run around for 90 minutes?"
But I wont say or agree with that, because soccer is a fun sport too, and is a lot more than that.
you sit here, and diss american football, while you've never watched it or been to an american football game.
