Can people please describe to me what it is like living in New York? :D
I live in Australia but I have been thinking last night what'd be like to work and live in New York :D

I've never lived in New York, but it seems to be a hodge Podge of different languages, accents and national origins. I don't see why an Australian would have too hard of time fitting in.
Depends upon what part of NY you want to live.
People are pretty friendly in upstate NY, but you would have to deal with severe weather from time to time (storms, lake effect blizzards in Buffalo).
NYC is a nightmare to drive in and is expensive to live. The expressways around town have pothole problems.
LI is a nice area but some parts are expensive, and LI people don't like people from NYC.
Most people on LI don't hate people from the city. In fact, most of the older generation here are from the city.Depends upon what part of NY you want to live.

There's a difference between "don't like" and "hate", and that was the talk I heard from a few folks while I was there, although it has been a while since I visited LI.
[QUOTE="CycleOfViolence"]Thanks. You know, I made a serious post for once and I'd genuinely like to know what its like. Its something I'm interested in. Well, I live north of the city, but I just got back from Brissie-- did a semester at UQ and LOVED it. I guess the shoe is on the other foot, but I found Australia and Aussies to be much more pleasant than NYC. Everybody is friendly and the city is SO much cleaner in Australia. You're lucky to live where you do!Ask Crocodile Dundee

It's dirty and it smells like urine.
There are nicer parts, like Manhattan, but unless you're at least a multi-millionaire, you wouldn't be living there.
It's more easier for you to be popular and people would interested in youCan people please describe to me what it is like living in New York? :D
