Ummmm, okay? I still don't like cookie monster vocals...
Schuldiner is nowhere near 'cookie monster'. Did you even click on the link? shuldiner went cookie on leporacy, and bloody gore is close. altho yes, shuldiner isnt a cookie monster, he's something special himself, between death and black.[QUOTE="Hot-Tamale"]Schuldiner is nowhere near 'cookie monster'. If it sounds like the cookie monster, it's cookie monster. It's forced.
while chuck S' death is an amazing band, and arguably the best DM band. Death is not really an accessable band to show people that think metal is worthless..nimatoad2000That I must agree on. [QUOTE="nimatoad2000"] shuldiner went cookie on leporacy, and bloody gore is close. altho yes, shuldiner isnt a cookie monster, he's something special himself, between death and black. I still wouldn't call those cookie to be honest. You're right, his vocal style is something special.

lmao i find this so funny how people think this is so intense and tough. that voice isnt tough, its retarded, and the lyrics are so cheesy i litterally laugh out loud, too most "metal" songs.

Metal is my favorite genre, but I personally prefer more melodic fair (trad and prog mostly). I'm not saying that anything's wrong with cookie monster vocals, but they aren't particularly enjoyable to listen to.
Play someone Dream Theater or Symphony X to show them its not a worthless genre lol.

If it's forced, it's not good. No matter what the singing styIe. Schuldiner's vocals were always on the weaker side of things. Anyway not a song to get into metal with, and I still question why you (TC) said deathcore is horrible if you have Carnifex in your name. :P[QUOTE="Crimtmp"]

thats somewhat bearable to listen to, but thats probobly the lamest video ever, and its still incredibly cheesy. i think every metal song uses the same lyrics, with such stupid ones as "i die to become immortal" or whatever they say. its the most ununique type of music, imho[QUOTE="Hot-Tamale"][QUOTE="Crimtmp"]

THe lyrics are supposed to be making fun of the heavy metal genre (mostly stuff like Dio).

Wicked World (Black Sabbath):
The world today is such a wicked thing
Fighting going on between the human race
People give good wishes to all their friends
While people just across the sea are counting the dead
A politicians job they say is very high
For he has to choose whos got to go and die
They can put a man on the moon quite easy
While people here on earth are dying of old diseases
A woman goes to work every day after day
She just goes to work just to earn her pay
Child sitting crying by a life thats harder
He doesnt even know who is his father

You definitely have to read up on some lyrics then if that's what you think. A lot of generic bands do that, yes, but of course when has the facade been how judge something? So any band that's similar to Black Sabbath (yes there are bands that still sound like Sabbath and are new) is bad?i love black sabbath, and bands like iron maiden and stuff, but most of this new stuff

Queensryche. Check it out. You might like Threshold too. Both bands have very intelligent and political lyrics (just don't listen to Jet City Woman ).
Metal has a culture that goes hand-in-hand with the music. If you don't understand the music or the culture as a whole or any of its sub-genres and what fuels it, it becomes really hard to appreciate it. It's the same way with rap, hip-hop, punk, etc. The music comes with a culture that has its own ideologies, beliefs, tie-in life experiences, etc. If you are a musician it's easier since you can't help but appreciate the metal genre whether partly or as a whole, just like with any genre of music.
I like Death but I agree that posting one song to prove or entice others that metal's good is odd. There's nothing definitive in that video.

Dio could do better. He may not have the stage presence of Ozzy, but he's a far better vocalist.

Black Sabbath being my favorite band, I wouldn't say any band is as good as they are. Still, check out EdenBridge (MyEarthDream), Midnattsol (Where Twilight Dwells), Altaria (Divinity), Kamelot (The Black Halo), Dream Theater (Awake), Symphony X (Paradise Lost), Heaven & Hell (The Devil You Know), Nightwish (Oceanborn). Just gave you a few to start with, and avoided listing death/black/other extreme metal and (for the most part) power metal, since it sounds like those wouldn't be your thing (to be fair, apart from death metal, most extreme metal isn't really my thing...). By the way, I gave you recommendations in the form Artist (Album).

I actually saw Heaven & Hell (Dio-era Sabbath under a different name), and Dio had great stage presence. Then again, I haven't seen Ozzy Sabbath in concert, so I can't really compare them...
Stop trying to convince people into liking things you do, it might not be because they are unknowledgeable on the subject; they simply might just not like it. I love Metal, but it will not be for everyone, especially Metal that involves vocal techniques like growling or shrieking in place of singing. Accept that others will have differing opinions.

My female friends saw these kids in the mall that were dressed in metal band shirts, had long greasy hair, and looked straight up demonic (their words, not mine). They said they'd rather sleep with a stereotypical nerd than a stereotypical metalhead.
metal is a worthless genre
