Forgotten movies by famous actors?

What are some forgotten good movies by famous actors that seem to be lost in time.

My pick has to go to Samuel L Jackson for the high school gang movie 187 this came out in that era in the mid 90's where after Dangerous Minds there was a trend of these types of movies like The Substitute which was a decent watch. But 187 has much more of a darker tone and some really great performances and a unforgettable ending.

Probably Falling Down with Michael Douglas. One of the better movies from the early 90's in my opinion. I don't think there's a person under 30 that's ever seen it (not trying to stereotype, I'm just saying if you didn't see it when it was released or on TV, you probably didn't see it).

@warmblur and @mrbojangles25 you guys picked two of the most memorable roles for both of those actors. Falling Down was practically the "Joker" of its day and parts from 187 still pop back into my head even though I haven't seen it in probably decades.

Joseph Goran-Levitt in Brick. Maybe not a "forgotten" film but certainly lesser known. This was Rian Johnson's first feature film and it's terrific.

Remember watching TV late night and seeing a very young Jack Nicholson in some Hammer looking gothic horror.

Called "The Terror".

Damn I love this movie I think the first time I saw it was on cable when I was a teenager that restaurant burger scene is iconic.

@Byshop: Brick is probably Megan Goode's best film. I like that movie.

I saw this one the other day. It's a shame about the sound and Sam Waterston plays a Native American. He's a great actor though.

Is that a neo-noir crime thriller....but in high school?

Is the principal the "mean but good-hearted" police captain? Levitt the once-great detective fallen from grace? Does he have a flawed-but-gifted-in-other-ways partner?

I vaguely (vaguely!) remember seeing previews for this when I was younger, I'll need to check it out.

• The Principal is played by Richard Roundtree (aka Shaft).
• The script is written like a 1940s detective noir, down to the patter and the slang.

The Last Jedi was divisive and Looper makes zero sense if you stop to think about it for more than a minute but all-in-all I love Rian Johnson's films and I'm eagerly looking forward to some Knives Out sequels.

@Byshop: Agree about Rian Johnson. I'd like to see him make more Star Wars movies but that probably won't happen.

I remember liking Arlington Road with Jeff Bridges quite a bit back in high school. And Tim Robbins may or may not have played a white-nationalist terrorist before that was really a thing on people's radar. Gonna have to watch again to confirm.

The Last Jedi was not without issues, but I appreciated how much he tried to subvert the formula. Force Awakens was a rehash of New Hope but after the prequels I feel like the franchise needed that reset so I was OK with that. TLJ really tried to swing for the fences on some stuff, even if there were a significant number of strikes instead of all hits. The third movie really wrecked it by basically walking back anything people didn't like and trying to create a paint-by-numbers fan service movie.

The Brother's Bloom was another one of his that I really liked.

Jackie Chan's The Protector (1985). Mainly the cut Jackie had to reshoot and re-edit for the Asian release because the Hollywood version was so bad.

The Devil's advocate with Al Pacino.

I guess Charlize Theron and Keanu Reeves were ok too, but Pacino utterly stole the show for me.

Great movie and yes Pacino was awesome in it.

Noises Off with Michael Caine, Christopher Reeve, Carol Burnett, John Ritter.

Adaptation of a British play about a traveling theatre troop. We basically see the same play three times, but each performance gets progressively worse due to personal drama between cast members. Probably some of the best physical comedy I've seen that didn't have Rowan Atkinson involved.

Brainscan - Edward Furlong.

Don’t think it was ever hugely popular but it’s a bit of a hidden gem among some film fans.

To be fair, Edward Furlong is kind of forgotten himself. But yeah, fun movie.

That sounds awesome. On a related note I enjoyed what I saw of "Peter Pan Gone Wrong".

I remember seeing Flatliners as a kid some of those scenes scared me lol. it's a great movie really like that concept it was fresh at the time.

@warmblur: Yeah it was pretty scary at the time. Think a lot of films had more 'scare' factor in them back in the day than they are now, more edge of your seat suspense rather than a blood fest slasher..!! Maybe it's just because I was a kid, everything was scary..!!
