thoughts from my prospective this is exactly what the world didn't need at this moment in time and not to offend anyone but the French have always been miserable whingers when they don't get there own way so if they and the Germans want to walk out and isolate themselves that's there problem on other fronts it looks like the U.S & Russian relations are getting better after the last few months when some people were say it look like there could be a new cold war .

Sarkozy and Merkel are testing Obama to see if he'll cave to their way of thinking. Despite what people may think of the US and its people in the end France and Germany needs the US and its economy to improve than the other way around. Being the largest economy in the world have a habit of making things happen whether partners want it or not.

Please...please...please! It is I couldn't care less, as in I could not care less because I don't care at all. If you could care less that means you care.

...Anyways, I like France they do not give in to political pressure from other countries for example the war in Iraq, they don't just hop into bed with the US on every agenda. If both Germany and France walk out it will be a total failure. How will the public react knowing that their so called leaders can't even agree with each other.

War in Irak? Not for an agenda?

The topic in france only served the presidential elections :'(

Being "against" war in Irak was a "cool" position.. no matter what may be the situation in Irak. I'm so sorry France didn't help the world to get ride of a dictator..

Why did the Americans have to butcher that phrase and make it so nonsensical :S France and Germany have a right to be annoyed, they are pushing for much needed financial regulation and everyone should agree.

so your quite happy to have the French tell you what to do are you ? and as for France not giving into the U.S pressure over Iraq you do realize the French had economic interests in Iraq namely oil that they were trying to protect also from what Ive herd they wanted to keep the Muslim population in France happy to so France was basically tied down over that business from day one they were sell weapons for oil to there good buddy Saddam and to scared of the Muslims in there country .

Sithious is right, there were many other reasons than saddam. But that is not what i am talking about, France opposed the USA strongly, I remember that whole freedom fries and no more wine debacle back when this was all happening. The US didn't have the right but they went anyway... and don't use the dictator argument seeing as there are still much worse in this world that Bush never even talked about.

France and Germany's desire for a more regulated financial system is most certainly justified, but regulation shouldn't be on the top of the list right now, at least in my opinion. Obama and Brown are right on this one; get the economy going again by means of fiscal policy, and then worry about regulation. Too much regulation right now when the economy is dieing could very well have a negative effect.

Ugh, the economy is a mess. Our economy is composed of hundreds of billions of dollars of fake nothingness.

Why must every government act like children? They shouldn't throw a temper tantrum because no one agrees with them.

Hmm? The French don't tell me what to do common sense does. Don't give me that jargon about economic interests the USA put Saddam in power in the 1st place. They sold him weapons initially and guess who sells all the weapons in post war Iraq now? Also the majority of French people were against the war not just muslims.

just stating the truth the U.S may have given weapons to Iraq in the 80s but what do i care i'm not even from the U.S i just don't like it when world leaders have double standards over certain issues in world politics .

Europe and America are different breeds. Do you really expect that 2 of the larger nations in Europe would want to go down the same road as America? Their political systems as well as value systems are almost completely opposite of each other. I don't find it at all weird that they were not able to work things out and go in the same exact direction/

"The majority of french were against war."

Not at all! It is what the media told you.

To tell you the truth: We are struggling with muslims inside the country.

We can't do anything in France that may displease muslims. It is the main problem in France, a problem from inside. :(
