Somebody to Love is more whiny than Lovesong?

That is the first time somebody has called Queen "emo". It's finally happened, you're slightly mad.

ShuLordLiuPei

Lovesong is not in the least whiny...it's happy. And emo in reference to Queen's lyrics...yep they are.

You know, we did exactly what the TC wanted. For us to argue which band is better...

Queen... is not emo. :|I've heard The Cure being called emo before.

But has Robert Smith ever been in a video game?

Freddie has been the inspiriation for many! For example...

I think LJS is just jealous, since Queen was a far more influential and successful band.

I was referring to the lyrics to that particular Queen song....and yes....I know that's what he wanted.....glad to have amused the lad. Nonetheless, I'm not exactly arguing....just driving you crazy....with the truth.:P

Not at all.....I've never like that overproduced opera sound that Queen overused. I'm rather happy with The Cure being exactly as they are. I'd hate to see the kids walking around in Cure shirts...it would make me sad. :(

Saying a love song is emo is not exactly the truth.

Queen has had great lyrics with a lot of diversity. Some of my favorites are their early, fantasy songs. You've probably never heard them...

I would take The Cure over Queen anyday...but that is not too say Queen were not capable of producing a good song....I just found alot of the time they were musically lacking and sometimes just went for over zealous production instead...but hey it is only my opinion...

Listen to 10:15 Saturday Night for a great example of using music to set a mood...

If I post a song, you'd say it's just words. I could do the same for any of the Cure's songs, but I won't...

-------------------------------

Ooh, you make me live
Whatever this world can give to me
It's you, you're all I see
Ooh, you make me live now honey
Ooh, you make me live

Oh, you're the best friend
That I ever had
I've been with you such a long time
You're my sunshine
And I want you to know
That my feelings are true
I really love you
(Ooh) Oh, you're my best friend

Ooh, you make me live

Ooh, I've been wandering round
But I still come back to you (still come back to you)
In rain or shine
You've stood by me girl
I'm happy at home (happy at home)
You're my best friend

Ooh, you make me live
Whenever this world is cruel to me
I got you, to help me forgive - oo oo ooh
Ooh, you make me live now honey
Ooh, you make me live

Oh, you're the first one
When things turn out bad
You know I'll never be lonely
You're my only one
And I love the thing
I really love the things that you do
Oh, you're my best friend

Oh, ooh, you make me live

I'm happy (happy at home)
You're my best friend
Oh, oh, you're my best friend
Ooh, you make me live
Oo oo ooh
You, you're my best friend

Is Lovesong diverse? Smith repeats the same line (or a very similar line) throught the whole song.

Even though this is far from their best song, I always like these lyrics. This song is about a fictional land called "Rhye".

-------------------

In the land where horses born with eagle wings
And honey bees have lost their stings
There's singing forever to you
Lions den with fallow deer
And rivers made from wines so clear
Flow on and on forever
Dragons fly like sparrows thru' the air
And baby lambs where Samson dares
To go on on on on on on

My fairy king can see things
He rules the air and turns the tides
That are not there for you and me
Ooh yeah he guides the winds

My fairy king can only do right and nothing wrong
Then came man to savage in the night
To run like thieves and to kill like knives
To take away the power from the magic hand
To bring about the ruin to the promised land

They turn the milk into sour
Like the blue on the blood of my veins
Why can't you see it
Fire burnin' in hell with the cry of a streaming pain
Son of heaven set me free and let me go
Sea turns dry no salt from sand
Seasons find no helping hand
Teeth don't shine like pearls for poor man's eye, no more.

Someone someone has drained the colour from my wings
Broken my fairy circle ring
And shamed the king in all his pride
Changed the winds and wronged the tides
Mother mercury
Look what they've done to me
I cannot run I cannot hide

ShuLordLiuPei

I'm not making excuses....I'm explaining. Lovesong was written for his wife...not you. It just happens to be a very effective love song.....simplicity is sometimes useful.

As for the song you posted...I read it...it had no point. It's like the author found a book of cliche phrases and strung them together. I can appreciate what I don't like...if there is something to it. That doesn't have anything to it. I don't know what you'd want me to say....

both have pretty bland lyrics... but I prefer freddie in this fight

sorry ljs :(

(fun fact, I have 1 cure album... but no queen album)

ShuLordLiuPei

Freddie... has bland lyrics?

That would be correct.

We will...we will....rock you. We will...we will...rock you. A masterpiece of thought...../sarcasm.

Brian May wrote We Will Rock You. :|

Hahahaha major PWN

And I feel that queen has very diverse lyrics seeming as the majority of the bands members wrote songs.. accounting for some very different styles in the lyrics and music....

Not going to say if the Cure of if Queen is better since I jsut haven't hear enough of the cure and I love Queen and have every song so its just not fair..

But its save to say that the freddy picture Pwns all and the videogame character is the best one ever.

both have pretty bland lyrics... but I prefer freddie in this fight

sorry ljs :(

(fun fact, I have 1 cure album... but no queen album)

Slepanandiaz

Freddie... has bland lyrics?

Major PWN? I'd disagree.

He says freddie has bland lyrics and recites the chorus from a song not written by freddie.... I think that deserves a pwn.

I did not say you brought it up.. I said you said they where bland... which you did.. which I quoted in my post above.

And the fact that freddie sings the lyrics does not make it his lyrics.. I sing a bunch of lyrics every day ...that does not make those lyrics mine.
