Futurama Is Back But it will not be the same

Wow, it seems like show is gonna suck now if they can't even get the original voice actors.

Still want Zoidberg's original voice-actor, but atleast those three are returning.

As long as the VA's don't sound entirely different I wouldn't mind.

TBH it sounds like a scam email to me. These aren't rare, what they do is get you to "audition" and then tell you that you might get the gig but first you need to send in pictures or some other expensive thing that they just so happen to convienently sell (or refer you to another company that is, in reality, run by the same people). Of course the job doesn't actually exist and once you pay for the stuff you never hear from them again.

I also say that it sounds like BS because some things don't make sense:

- These actors were hired on for the movies, seems odd that they wouldn't be picked up again for the series
- What idiot executives greenlight a new season for a show like Futurama without securing all of the contracts first?
- Fox has a track record for paying out crazy sums of cash to Matt Groening's voice actors. They have no problem giving The Simpsons voice actors millions of dollars for each episode. Yes, The Simpsons is a much more valuable franchise, but I seriously doubt that the Futurama actors are asking for $20 million a year like The Simpsons actors do.
- Since when are things of this nature handled over email?

I'd be willing to bet that if you look at the full header for that email you're going to find that it didn't come from a Fox IP address.

Just thought I would add... if we're going by Trades... from The Hollywood Reporter -- dated June 9 - same time as that Variety article... http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/search/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003981766 "Though no deals have been closed, all key voice cast members are expected to return for the new episodes, along with the series' core writing team." So I don't know what happened between NOW and THEN... but I feel like it might be a scare tactic... like they're telling the actors don't ask for too much because you are replaceable. Sajedene

I wish it is. I want it to be... messed up, yeah, but I want the original cast members closed as much as you. With a breakdown released and guaranteed we're making submissions on it... it means until they close on the original voice actors, they can be replaced by someone cheaper.

Everyone of us at work were like... WTF ... and the fact that it was Scott Muller who sent it out is really disturbing and a red flag. I even looked at the sides hoping it was a joke or something but no... its legit. They're looking for them.

And let me tell you, I read Variety and THR everyday and they make a lot of mistakes and report stuff that are weeks old. Only reason why they are the trades is because there really is no other decent option. Its just them two.

If they change the voice actors I can't watch the show, especially if they change Bender, it just wouldn't be right!

I saw this on another forum, and it sounds like all the audition stuff if just a scare tactic to make the voice actors come down from the price they're asking for ($75,000 per episode).

Maybe they'll tell us more at Comic-Con this weekend. Man, I hope it's good news. I spent the money on that Bender Head, I'm going to be pissed if I get it signed at the con, and then they replace some of the voice actors.

I wish Groening or Cohen would release a statement.
