gaining weight advices-5'6'' about 105 Ibs (Underweight) [problem?]

I'm 14 :D

so.. I went to the doctor the other day, and they said that I'm underweight. My mother also says that too! I've been trying and trying to gain weight but its not working. I gain a couple of ounces and thats it :cry:

I've tried 250 colories shakes and tryed eating alot. I don't exercise besides stay in my house. I do go number 2 mostly everyday.

So do I have a problem? Am I eating wrong? Am I diabetic?(It kinda runs in the family)? btw I got a blood test just today.

btw If I gain muscle, will I gain weight? Will it still count as underweight? Edit: My garage is like a mini gym

well i am 6"3' and 132lbs, dont worry about it. Being slim isnt bad as long as you eat healthily. But as it turns out, i dont eat well (lots of junk), i just dont gain weight. I guess its my metabolism

Eat as much as you feel you need and work out as much as you can force yourself to. That'll get your weight up.

you could still lift weights. go get a weight set or a gym membership. youll be wanting muscle mass, so lift more weight with fewer reps.

Its hard for me to put on weight too, but try eating 1 box of ice cream sandwiches a large pizza, large cesar salad and throw in allot of chinesse food and hamburgers and drink lots of coke every day, i did that for a couple mothns and gained so much it took me a year to lose it all.

I use to put lots of peanut butter on my sandwhiches and my mom told me its bad.. I don't want to make her mad again. and also she got mad since they have to keep buying peanut butter since I use all of it less in 2 weeks.

Yeah, Im like that also. People at school make fun of me and say im anorexic, but i eat twice as much as they do. I just dont get fat.

Hopefully it is just your metabolism. Once you hit at about 17 you should have a normal one.

then move to eggs. Eggs are also awesome protein sources.

well when i was 7, i stuffed my face with oreos, got fat, then burnt it all off, so try oreos, lots and lots of oreos

id suggest maybe working out. i doubt you have much fat to burn so try gaining some muscle mass. do bicep curl, shoulder press, some ab workout often. try eating more as well.

Same here I am the topic creators age but I am losing weight fast ever since school let out. I was actually starting to build muscle until I got out and started missing lunches because I was either playing video games or sleep. So I didn't get enough protein to maintain my muscle fibers so now I weigh about 119-120 and I am 5 foot 6 inches tall when I used to weigh about 125-130 pound at the end of the year but at least I still have a low body fat percentage. I am getting some weights today and I haven't played any games lately so I will see if I can increase my weight.

I have an extremely fast metabolism as well and I can eich about 17 pizzas at one sitting and still weigh the same next week. I think it has to do with our ages al Puberty and fast metabolisms equal little weight gain due to the food we are eating being rapidly converted into energy for our body not only to live but to "grow" as well.

dont worry about it, when i was around 14, i was around 89 pounds, now im like 5`6 and i weight 130 pounds or so, i have a fast metabolism, i eat and eat and i never get fat, nothing u can do if thats the case, though sports might help

Muscle weighs a lot more then fat, so working out would be the best way to gain weight. Don't add unhealthy weight by just eating, you could run into problems down the road.

Hopefully it is just your metabolism. Once you hit at about 17 you should have a normal one.heyfunboy
I'm 17 now and my metabolism hasn't slowed down one bit. :| (I turn 18 in a few more months.)

My advice is three big meals a day. At dinner time (or whenever you have your main meal), eat as much as you can. Also, try and keep normal sleep patterns, and get at least 8 hrs. of sleep per night.

Just eat fastfood all day and you'll gain weight in no time. KFC chicken is good, but the McD fries will really help you out :D

If you don't gain weight fast and get all your necessary vitamins, you might not grow too tall. I know he's not at the full phase of height development, but he should be doing the right things. I really wish I would have drinken a lot of milk when I was 13-16, I might have grown to like 6'1" instead of being stuck at 5'9".

So, you might be a bit underweight. Depends on your skeletal structure too.

Im 16 years old, 5'11, 225 pounds and most of it is muscle. Just eat protein-rich food and work out.

you should be excersizing, trying to put on muscle.

go weight lift, avoid cardio and take in about 3500 calories a day high carbs and high protein.

get a weight gainer.

Exercising does seem to be the only way, I can gain weight. Then again i'm thankful, i'm not gaining weight in another fashion.

Eat a dozen cookies everyday along with big regular meals and I guess just have a chocolate or even if you kinda want to make it a little healthier go with even a banana or some fruit shake with every meal instead of milk...and make sure you eat just as much cause shakes can be kinda filling...

gaining muscle shoudl help but your body fat must be pretty low, below 4 percent and your in really bad shape, if you dont play sport and under 10 percent its a bit uncommon but not rare. i guess trya and eat healthy and do regular exercise. adding on excess weight and having it be saturated fat isnt the answer. but i wouldnt take my advice to seriously better off talkign to proper doctors or nutritionists.

being skinny is good, your body shape is ectomorph, although this body type finds it the hardest to put on muscle, if done correctly can have one of the best looks.

You want to put on weight? with what you said, u have a high metobolism, the easiest way to put on weight when your like that is to actually put on muscle, a good way to do this, as soon as you get up in the morning, do exercise, pull ups, sit ups whatever. Then eat loads, and always keep your body full in the day and night.

Rinse, repeat and you should ecentually get results.

Note: dont do too much strenious exercise after the morning, you need to let your muscles heal.

With the metabolism you probably have you wont be able to consume enough raw mass ( pounds of food ) to make a difference without making yourself sick and unhealthy.

Muscle weights more than fat so you can gain total weight by gaining more muscle but if you are of a small frame already there wont be a ton that you can gain in this area.

You can try eating smaller portions throughout the day and then eat a larger meal right before you go to sleep in an attempt to throw some unchecked pounds into your system while giving your metabolism little chance to burn them off.

Aside from this you could use substitutes but all you would accomplish is a destroyed bowel which leads to a world of other problems i wont go into.

lol, that would be a good idea. I'm 15 years old, 5'10, 128 or so pounds, and I can feel bones easily. Not good at all.

Don't gain weight by gaining fat it will never work, I used to be very light, I'm now 5' 5" and I weight almost 150 lbs, I used to weight about 120, but I started to eat alot, and exercies, it's the exercising that made me gain weight.

At your age... Work out a bit, nothing too strenuous as you are not quite old enough to lift. Do push ups, dips, pull ups, sit ups and maybe throw around some dumbells. Protein is key though, as well as eating startch (potatoes, pasta) before you go to sleep. If you have a fast metabolism.. good luck. But working out is the key because muscle outweighs fat.
