In before the lock!

I wasn't around when it happened but what I heard is its because the way he described Kane & Lynch and how bad it is.

I remember there were a few porn suicides when he gave Twilight Princess for the Wii an 8.8 and Gears of War a 9.6.

I think those reviews are pathetically true, games are now being dominated by shooters.

Years ago I used to be a huge SW poster. After Gerstmanngate, I lost interest. Everyone left for Giantbomb, the forums plummeted from consistent 10,000 online to a mere 2,000, and everything slowed down considerably. It's quite sad that a reviewer would get fired for an opinion. He wasn't even a great reviewer and he's even admitted to being biased several times on Giantbomb, but even then, does it really justify him being fired over K&L?

It was never confirmed, but the numerous hints and "insider info" and snippets from employees and other industry workers all point that way.

Twilight Princess was the worst review in the history of the site (reaction-wise). It caused upwards of 25 suicides in one night, not to mention the massive crackdown that followed. The mods got way more strict (and ironically, Casey would post less and less and then move to Giantbomb, although he's still a mod here and posts from time to time).

lol I remember watching Gamespot's coverage of the Wii launch, and a random guy they interview in line asks them why they gave Twilight Princess an 8.8.

Looks like a moderator or staff member locked this thread without a notice. I found it in the Ask the Mods forum so I am going to share a few comments about this thread.

ProudLarry: Thanks for focusing on the facts instead of hearsay. :)

akbar13 and Samurai_Xavier: Don't be getting me aggro about negative comments or pokes at Kevin. He is one of the hardest working dudes in the internet world. You shall bow to him even if you don't like him. :P

Yes I know this is very very old news. I never heard the truth and forgot about it until now. Did he really get fired for giving Kane and Lynch a bad score? Has he said anything?

Dont lock this thread. Unless theres no such thing as free speech here.

The truth? Unless it came from Jeff's mouth, I dont know about anything being the truth. Many staff here were never told what happened it's really up to Jeff to share the story. Now that it's been so many years since then, let's not dwell on what could have been, should have been and more about what IS. Jeff is happy, and many of us at GS are happy for him even if we miss him too.
