damn that sucks at my job they just laid off 15 people in my department lucky for me i wasn't one of them. i hate to see so many hard working people loose there jobs and just weeks before christmas. this sucks.
I'm new here but Gamespot laying off 3 major employs really shows the effect of the econmy though i do wounder how it effects gamespot i mean they make money of the ads right? Can Companies just not afford to advertise for as much now?
my thoughts are simple: who cares..i wasn't close to any of them so eh just more people laid offx-chump-x
this is only the beginning mods. please lock this thread before the comments get any worse. i think jeff actually banned people for making insults about these people on giant bomb. with Christmas and Hanukkah just a couple weeks away, you'd think people would have a little more consideration for people being laid off

Layoffs happen all the time. While I feel for those that lost their jobs, it's part of any normal economic cycle. I'm sure they will find other positions in the field.
The title of that thread could have had a little more thought put into it :D , but anyway... You know, I wonder how much money this site even makes. Despite its popularity, it probably isn't really a lot actually.
Wow... just.. wow. My mom ended up losing her job last week, so yeah, belts are being tightened I guess. :( But Bethany... that surprises me the most. Two community managers at once is a bad sign. Shows you how much the company actually cares about their community.

Don and Bethany are two of the community managers here... doesn't matter if you're not close to them, it's still a change that will affect you.
So does this mean Dave Toole is gonna be in charge? The forums were at its best was he was running things.
For all I know, Dave was cut too... Dave hasn't really done community stuff for years though. Jody's been co-manager for 3 years now though, and she's still around. Remember that Dave was in charge of a much, much smaller set of forums.
Which means you care in some aptitude. Next time you chose to be indifferent about something, you should go the whole nine and just not bother clicking on the thread. :|
