I remeber waking up early to play on on Phantasy Star Online or rushing home to play a bit more Halo. I used to play the same level over and over again and loved it.

Now most games I play I stuggle to find the will to carry on playing.

Some exceptions such has Halo 3 (online), Bioshock and a few others, but I really think that this generation is all style with little substance

I don't game like I used to when I was a kid, but I'm not even close to losing the title of a gamer. I'm just more interested in the design of games then actually playing them.

I used to love it. I made rank 3 before I gave up. My friend however has become amazing at it. He won the last ever official GW tournament.

But when I look back at it all I ever did was click on a few things over and over again...

Games are borring. I remember to when i was in highschool, playing games and being drawn into them and having fun. Games like Metroid Prime, LozWW, Silent Hill 2, MGS2, RE4, and sooo many more wowed me. I have a 360 and a Wii, i never play my 360 and i have over 20 games mind you, and i only play SSBB with my wii or use its internet channel, the standards have been lowered this gen, its all about visuals now. Games are short, linear, use the same freakin formula, predictable and non-creative, as to last gen were there was such a huge storm of different games from all 3 systems and that were way longer.

To me, the experience of playing video games is not longer as enjoyable as it used to be; the euphoric feeling that I got when I first played Nights, Oddworld: Abe's Oddyssey, Jet Grind Radio, or Final Fantasy VII is really rare for me to have these days. The last couple of games that I did enjoy a lot were stuff like ICO, Metroid Prime, and Oblivion. A lot of the stuff coming out today doesn't really have any lasting value when I play them and most of it is pretty much the same to me.

Sometimes I get bored of gaming, that's because I usually just feel like doing other things. It's not like we're 10 and can play games all day now. Occasionally maybe, but theres other things to do.

You know, same here. Sometimes I'm more excited about the IDEA of a game then actually playing the game itself.

I've always been a casual gamer. But I've noticed the only games that keep me wanting more, are online games such as EverQuest, etc. It's just so much more fun playing live.

Sadly, I've either sold or have given away all my older consoles but I plan to own them again someday. I especially miss my Super NES. I could NEVER get tired of playing Super Mario World!!! Or any Mario for that matter...lol.

As others have said I think your getting older and more mature. So playing the same level over many times is losing its appeal a lot quicker.

Yeah I am pretty much just trying to get by until Spore comes out. Spore will be awesome.

I might start playing EVE online again. But right now I am occupied with X3 Reunion XTM mod. and Sins of a Solar Empire.

I don't think its because one is getting old, but ive you have been gaming for some time then new games mostly just seem like the same old but with better graphics. Same with movies. Its pretty difficult to make something orignal these days, its like we have seen it all.

I don't like gaming anymore as much as I used to. The games are IMO losing their quality, and FAST. To me, the best days of gaming was the 90's, especially late 90's, with INNOVATIVE games (yes, innovative games, we don't see them anymore) like Thief, System Shock 2 and Deus Ex. While my game collection is still growing, I usually only buy older games. Of all the 2007 games, I bought only Crysis, Witcher, Two Worlds, STALKER and Penumbra... oh and Stranglehold. Well, STALKER and Penumbra ended up being one of my favorite games of all time, but if there's only TWO games in a year that I really enjoyed, well.. damn. 2008-2010 looks to be much more interesting, with games like Deus Ex 3, Thief 4(?), STALKER Clear Sky, Fallout 3 etc etc (see my tracked games list HERE) So gaming is maybe going to be good once again, but for me, it will never be as wonderful as it was back in the 90's. *sigh* They just don't make games like they used to... I guess gaming is becoming more and more mainstream and casual oriented, and in that process they forget and abandon older "hardcore" gamers. It's sad.

I have to admit - i barely play games at all anymore. I just dont have the capacity to sit and play them for long, they just frustrate the hell out of me these days.

Nothing will top the days of playing Zelda on the N64 as a child :)

Maybe some of you have lower standards than I do, but I've always found a majority of games to be extremely mediocre. Maybe I'm cynical and bitter and balding, but I found some of the most well-received games of 2007 to be absolute **** (Assassin's Creed is a good example).

Maybe getting older has resulted in a loss of imagination on your part. Just a thought.

EDIT: There's also nostalgia to consider. Just because you remember having more fun back then doesn't necessarily mean you did have more fun back then.
