I have also started using forums a lot more than I used to. They are very addictabe things as im sure everyone on here is aware!
games have lost there creativity they are all the same. I falling away from gaming I havent touch my 360 and Wii for months. I have tho touched my Snes and PS2FingerSubAdmittedly, it is becoming over-saturated with generic first-person shooters. The fact that Assassin's Creed was partially praised for doing "something different" is indeed a sad thing to hear.
To be fair, it's always been like this. In the 80's, Sierra had a monopoly on the adventure gaming market with games like King's Quest and Leisure Suit Larry, except they released five or six Space Quest or King's Quest games within a period of five or six years, and there wasn't much creativity left. This was partially Roberta William's fault, but that's besides the point. When something proves to be successful, companies will whore the hell out of that **** until the market becomes over-saturated with it and people start complaining about a lack of creativity. The industry moves in cycles.
Uh, are you all delusional? The Orange Box (EVERY GAME), Mass Effect, Bioshock, and GTAIV are all the opposite of what you've been saying. All but GTAIV are quite original, and all of them have great gameplay.Manly-manly-manBioshock is original? It's just streamlined System Shock 2 with a steampunk, underwater setting. They even share a few of the same plot twists.
It's clear that a big part of what make games boring these days is that they are too many FPS games and not enough new good games :pEthernintyIts because the 360 and PS3 are just trying to show off how powerful they are trying to make the graphics better and better and not thinging about creativity.

Do you mean the consoles or the devs :P
if you think that gaming is becoming boring than u are not a true gamer sorry but its the truthishoturface
now theres an insult!
i dont have a problem with gamers (cos im one myself) but i dont think its anything to be particularly proud (or ashamed) of, its just a hobby, and a pointless one at that in all honesty. this hurts me to say it.
true gamer....thats a bit silly now imho
Some exceptions such has Halo 3 (online), Bioshock and a few others, but I really think that this generation is all style with little substancemonkey_monger
The last phrase is kind of ironic for me,considering I was just playing No More Heroes a couple minutes ago, which really is styIe over substance.>_>
I'm as much of an avid gamer as I ever was,but I've had most of my fun this generation from the "old" games I've been catching up on.Weird.
i havent touched my ps3 and wii in a VERY long time.... ive been playing Perfect Dark on my N64 recently though.
I don't play as often as I used to. I kind of miss when I first got my 360. I would get home get a drink send a message to my friend and jump on a game of either Call of Duty 2 or Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. I still love to play video games, it is just I don't have the time like I used to. I miss that feeling though, rushing home to play a game for a couple hours at a time. Staying up to about 4 - 5 in the mourning, squeezing in the most time possible with a game.
Ahhhh..the good ole' days!
I don't game a lot anymore, and addiction is out of the picture. Gaming with friends however, is something else.Lance_C
I do agree with this. I rarely play single player games, just online with friends
When I was young, my world revolved around gaming, computers and playing games with my friends. Now, I increasingly find myself looking for something else to do.
Summer is coming, and I have no plans other than to travel a few places here and there. I didn't sign up for any classes this summer so I don't have to show my face back at college until september. Thank god for that. About the only thing I am looking forward this summer is not wall to wall gaming, but sleeping in, working a few longer hours and having more time to do nothing.
I don't know if it is me maturing or games just not being what they used to be, but whatever the case, things are not the way they used to be.
I have only been gaming since the beginning of this year after a long hiatus (last system I had was the NES, Not the SNES, the orig NES). I have continued to play PC games, most of which are strategy and/or sim games (civilization, Ceaser, etc). I do think the game concepts have gone down...just look at how many people are more interested in playin things like COD 2 vs COD 4. A lot of people like the older, more skill based, less "pretty" graphics games if they can actually be tacticians and win the game.
My 2 cents.
