[QUOTE="MichaeltheCM"]German cars in general are superior to American cars but of course u have to pay for it. Of course the Corvette is better than all German cars :)m3Boarder32

Is that why the M5 gets 12 MPG City, 16 MPG Highway

And the faster, Z06 gets 16MPG City, and 26 MPG Highway

But i would still take an M5 over a Z06 any day..

Dude the M5 is not even in the same leage as a Z06! The Z06 beat both the Ferrari F430 and 599 on the Nürburgring! BMW does not make a production car that could even come anywhere close to that!

And the 2005 Cadilac CTS-V beat the M5 on the Nürburgring. At least compare apples to apples!

WTF are you rambeling about? I said the faster Z06 gets better MPG then the slower M5...Im simply making the point that the German M5 is a gas hog...

And dude....The CTS-V would get smoked by a new M5 around Nurburing...The 2005 CTS-V must have beat the older 400HP M5, not the V10 M5 with 500 Horsepower, and a 8300 RPM Redline..

It's because you downplayed how great the Z06 is. Comparing it to a M5 is an insult when it even beats the Zonda, F430, and 599. Like I said the M5 is not even in the same league as the Z06.

And yes that was the 2005 models for both M5 and CTS-V. But don't be to sure about the new M5, it's a boat at over 4,000LBS and Caddie has a new DTS-V with 500 HP (z06 engine) coming out to. I'm sure it will also beat the M5 as that is the only reason they even make a V model in limited numbers. Just to beat the M5 and show BMW up.

Yeah,  the M5 is heavy,  its around 1000lbs heavier than a Z06...But DTS-V or whatever you wanna call it is also going to be over 4000lbs...

Yes but the DTS-V will be designed on the Ring for the sole purpose to beat the M5.  That's the way they did the CTS-V.  They just keep tweaking the mules on the ring until they get a time lower than the production M5 and then do a small production run of it and get the bragging rights over BMW.  I love it.  BMW is such an arrogant company I love to see anyone stick it to them.

Because of that there is now way the DTS-V wont be faster than the M5 because that's the only reason its even made.

American cars have got to be the worst manufactured cars in the world. Sure some of them look good (the Mustang for example), but all they can do is go in straight lines and drink petrol.nickmag

Sums up my thoughts very well. :)

And P.S. The M5 is not a very fast car all things considered.  Just because it has 500HP it cant put it down or move through the corners well because its so big and long and heavy.  Even the M3 CSL has a faster ring time than the M5.  That's why I got upset.  The vette is a sports car, its actually a super car.  The M5 is just big 4 door boat with a large engine.

Apples and oranges.

The Subaru WRX STi Spec-C, and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX GSR also beat the M5.  And the new 2008 Vette C6 (Non-Z06) is going to have 430HP and no price increase!  This car will also beat the F430 and 599.  The Vettes are just sick and by far the fastest cars in the world for the money.  You have to spend $100,000 more just to get a car that can come close to them!

That's the point.  If I was rich sure I would by a Ferrari etc.  But I would still want a Vette too because of what it is and represents, a blue collar Ferrari killer!

The Cadillac Catera was an Opel made in Germany, and BMWs are made in South Carolina., so I guess it depends on your definitions.

Global warming is really unstoppable... Even if everyone drove an electric car, that doesn't stop the crap load of factories and power plants from churning out smoke and crap...

Beyond that, nobody drives hybrids now.... Like 1% of the population has them, and only like 50 gas stations in the country carry ethanol fuel....

Camaro's, Corvette's, Viper's, and Trans Am's are the greatest cars there are. Anything foreign is a joke.

ok, I was just about to take you seriously...

My point was that american cars use more gas than foreign cars, and with the current problems the world is facing makes them far inferior.

BMW, Ferrari, and Mercedes are as good if not better than the ones you mentioned...and they are nothing close to "jokes". But I prefer Hondas, VWs and Toyotas.

German cars are superior to American cars, they perform better and generally look better. American cars have their fair share of good looking cars, but in the performance department they are slim.

Well, buy an Opel, then you have a germamerican car.

As far as german quality, VW had all of those ignition problems between 2000 - 2003.  Audis aren't exactly topping any reliability surveys, Mercedes has been turning out major electrical problems for the past half decade.  Meanwhile several GM products have place in the top ranks on JD Powers reliability ranking for some years now.  Check out the 2001 Honda Civic on NHTSA, last time I looked it up it had 6 recalls, and around 400 Technical Service Bulletins, and when Edmunds tested the Honda Pilot broke its timing belt after only 15,000 miles, and spent around 20 days in the shop for mechanical problems in 1 year.  When they tested the ridgeline they blew out all four struts on a dirt road.
