[QUOTE="Ingenemployee"]Im going to assume you think hes an atheist, well he isn't.

harashawn

Whether or not he is an atheist has absolutely nothing to do with it. He said multiple times that not believing evolution is ignorant (Even though it is a theory and has not been proven). And if you're going to respond with the generic "Do you believe in gravity, or the cell theory? Well those are theories too." Yes I believe there is gravity, and that we are made up of cells. I know those are theories. For the time being, there are no reasonable alternatives to the theories, which is why I accept them.

Proof that evolution has not been proven, sure its not 100% proven, but thats how science is. Heres how I see it, science is like a mostly finished puzzle, your missing a few pieces but you still know what the picture is.

Sure, you believe those theories and they have no current alternatives. So whats the alternative theory for evolution.

We need religion is schools, i dont think all schools should have to have church and stuff, but kids should be able to decide what they want to believe, not "YOUR LEARNING EVOLUTION DEAL WITH IT PUNK!!" I think they should teach Evolution and Religion, the people can decide what they want to believe.

Dosnt anyone body realize this country was founded on Religion and stuff? I WANT MY MONEYS I DONT CARE ABOUT ANYONE EXCEPT MYSELF!!" but if you say "Evolution no one says anything.

Also, people, we have to remember Evolution is THEORY! IT IS NOT FACT. Why cant we teach the THEORY OF RELIGION?!

Lastly, if you believe in Religion and God does turn out to be real, to Heaven you go! If you believe in God and he dosnt exist, it dosnt affect you at all. But it you believe in evolution and God turns out to be real, to Hell ya go! Have fun being tortured for eternity! So wouldnt it be common sense to just believe in Christ?

And no, being a Christian dosnt mean you will have a boring life. Basically you just have to 1. Believe 2.be sorry your your sins.

There is such an outstanding amount of pure "fail" in this post, I have no clue to where to begin.

Once again you're confusing opinion with fact.We have no way of telling whether evolution or creationism or any other idea of how we got here is correct. We can only form opinions based on what we have learned.

We have found evidence for evolution we have found 0 evidence for creationism.. Furthermore evolution HAS to exist in some form at the very least.. With out evolution we would never have been able to domesticate plants and animals. Creationism has none such evidence, its nonexistent in the objective sense.. its a what if that can fit in with billions of what ifs that don't have any evidence as well.

Carl Sagan teaches Evolution in depth in his cosmos series. fox news is full of conservatives. this is pretty obvious i cant believe im explaining what i said..

I guess I'm just confused. I don't see what conservatism have to do with evolution. I accept the Big Bang, abiogenesis, and evolution, yet I think I'm more conservative. >_>

Let me put it like this.

Teaching something from a story book doesn't even make sense. However, teaching what modern science's best conclusion at the time is, does. There is ZIP ZERO NONE NADA evidence of any events in the bible, but we do have fossils and other resources to back our evolution threoy. Teaching the bible's ideas is wrong because it sends the message that giving up on reason and accepting an unbacked story is just fine. That is WRONG, so very wrong.

If you could reason with religious people, there would be no religious people.

Ah, more of the usual cliches that have been refuted time and time again.

I cant believe America has gotten to the point if you say "God" some stupid parent will say "IM SUING! IM SUING!! I WANT MY MONEYS I DONT CARE ABOUT ANYONE EXCEPT MYSELF!!"wjb428

Who are you saying starts lawsuits for mentions of god, and just how is this mainstream?

Also, people, we have to remember Evolution is THEORY! IT IS NOT FACT. Why cant we teach the THEORY OF RELIGION?!wjb428

http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/2764/sciencevscreationismjd7.gif

You're seriously comparing evolution to religion? And it's a "theory" in about the same sense as gravity. Yeah, you can't be COMPLETELY certain about it, but what CAN you be completely certain about?

Lastly, if you believe in Religion and God does turn out to be real, to Heaven you go! If you believe in God and he dosnt exist, it dosnt affect you at all. But it you believe in evolution and God turns out to be real, to Hell ya go! Have fun being tortured for eternity! So wouldnt it be common sense to just believe in Christ?wjb428

That's incredibly ridiculous. That argument has been refuted many times from various perspectives, though I don't remember all of them right now. One is the arguable intellectual dishonesty of making yourself believe something just because of the presumed consequences of such beliefs, but for me, I prefer the point that even if a "god" exists that doesn't mean that "god" is specifically what Christianity says he is, or that we know what he wants and what his planned punishments and rewards are, etc...

Wrong. There IS evidence for evolution. Mountains of it. There is NO evidence for creationism. You are delusional if you think otherwise. Is it reasonable to beleive in something that has no evidence for it over something that doesnt? No it isnt.

I'm a Christian who believe in Evolution.

Why? Because they are NOT mutually exclusive to one another.

Anyone thinking otherwise (and it mainly comes from Republicans/Conservatives) is just ignorant about the science of Evolution.

Why is America not a place for atheists? Wasn't it founded to escape religious persecution (along with other things)?

church and state should be separate for good reason - no church in school, no church in politics.

there is obviously no proof on either side - but the more information we learn through science the less probable the case for Christian Evolutionist becomes.

i can say unequivocally that it is something we shouldn't teach in schools - seeing many Christians can't even agree on what 'Christian Evolution' details.

wjb428

I think I'll make a list...

1. "Dosnt anyone body realize this country was founded on Religion and stuff?"

America was founded by thiests, who believed there was a greater being but not necessarily the christian God. Also, America was founded upon freedom of religion and secularity, which lead me to my next point...

2. "if you want to be atheist, America isnt the place for you."

Honestly, I don't know what to say. I know it makes you feel better to know that there is a fairy in the sky controlling you like a puppet, pulling your strings and making you dance to its tune through the holy words of the bible and the church, but you can at least accept that not everyone has the same beliefs as you, and you cant deny people the right to be American if they disagree and actually think for themselves.

3. "I cant believe America has gotten to the point if you say "God" some stupid parent will say "IM SUING! IM SUING!! I WANT MY MONEYS I DONT CARE ABOUT ANYONE EXCEPT MYSELF!!" but if you say "Evolution no one says anything."

Firstly, give me an example of that ever happening. I dare you. And the removing of the word god from money and the pledge of allegiance is simply to reinforce that the US is not simply a christian nation, its a multitude of races and religions that live together *cough* peacefully. But since I see that you dont believe in one of the basic principles of your country, I guess it makes sense for you deny this. And you really dont know what evolution is do you? For example, in the following quote:

4. "Also, people, we have to remember Evolution is THEORY! IT IS NOT FACT. Why cant we teach the THEORY OF RELIGION?!"

...you say that evolution is just a theory. And you're wrong. Its a scientific theory, which is totally different. Science class seems to have eluded you. A scientific theory is a logical explanation for a series of facts which is supported by a variety of evidence. Everything in science, including gravity, is a scientific theory. Religion is not a scientific theory, as it has absolutely no facts or evidence to back it up. A theory, yes, but not of the scientific kind. Which makes it preposterous that it should be taught along a heavily supported and universally backed fact of nature.

5. "Lastly, if you believe in Religion and God does turn out to be real, to Heaven you go! If you believe in God and he dosnt exist, it dosnt affect you at all. But it you believe in evolution and God turns out to be real, to Hell ya go! Have fun being tortured for eternity! So wouldnt it be common sense to just believe in Christ?"

Typical logical fallacy. Read up on Pascal's wager, maybe you'll rethink your misguided position. I don't think will like that fact that you worship him simply for the juicy reward at the end of the tunnel. What is just or fair about that? Its not faith, its sucking up. Quite pathetic.

6. "And no, being a Christian dosnt mean you will have a boring life. Basically you just have to 1. Believe 2.be sorry your your sins."

Sorry, I don't subsribe to that particular brand of theological BS.

Somehow I get the eerie feeling a moderation is coming... probably for owning this kid too badly.

It was also founded upon slavery. I suppose you'd like to encourage that too.
