I think it should be confined to religious schools. I learned a lot about Christmas in elementary school, and it made me uneasy (I'm Jewish). I think history classes can teach a little bit of religion, but only for historical reasons. My history class has covered various religions, their histories, and their effects on society.

Religion is a big enough part of society to have a class. It's not that big a deal, and it's often optional (at least in Europe).

They should offer a class teaching kids about religion. They should not actually teach religion. If that makes any sense.

honestly, religion has to be an element of education. I'm not saying there should be a "Conversion 9" class, or that it should turn people to the way of God, but Christianity is a huge part of our culture that needs to be understood. Even at a practical level, if you don't have a basic understanding of Christianity, history and literature classes can be a bit difficult to grasp.

Its actuallyreally sad the the U.S. is this religious of a country that we would want to implement it into our schools. If yout look around the world the more secular countries are the most successful and productive. Another sad fact is that the U.S. is one of the few countries in the world that religion is a major issue in the presidential elections. What is this the 1800's?

Well the U.S. isn't really the best example of a "secular government". Our political culture was influenced greatly by puritanism, and I think it is important to teach certain aspects of religion to get a better understanding of the U.S. and the entire world that we live in.

Huh? I live in a very conservative neighborhood, and religion almost never comes up in school, except for singing Christian music in choir for the Winter Concert.
