Girls; I prefer talking to the other half of the human race to playing games all day.ghoklebutter
i resent that, i actually go outside and see and do things.
Video games come in many different types, with a lot of the best coming from Japan. They can be very fullfilling, you can even sometimes conquer one you never thought possible. But above all else, you can either play the same one for years and years, or if you're feeling good about yourself you can play a couple a day. They make life very entertaining, but sometimes they can drive you up the wall because you can't get that ONE little detail right. But the second you beat it, you become overstricken with joy, and you want to tell everybody you know about how amazing this game is.
Now, re-read what I said and pretend I'm talking about women.
I choose girls. But in reality, just girl. :)
but having a relationship is completely useless.Mr_Cumberdale
In fact, I agree. But if there's a girl you can hang out with and talk to it's really a great thing.
Video games have certainly been kinder to me over the years.

Yet, compared to an actual woman, what are they ever likely to give you in return?
I mean, videogames won't break your heart like a woman will, sure. But videogames also won't provide you a lifetime of love and companionship like a woman will. Videogames will never give you children, will never help pay the bills or look after you when you're old and sick, and will never open up social connections for you that allow you to become more successful.

It could have been so much better but yes. I'm talking about the way the industry is going as a whole. Just look at what MW2 and the Wii is doing to games :x
RobboElRobbo
Um.....what are they doing? Besides making assloads of money, I mean?
They're only trying to appeal to the largest possible audience, thus killing off a lot of other companies who actually care about gamers. Gaming will probably be 100% mainstream one day. Remember how much more awesome games were before these two asswipe things came out?
Um...excuse me?
Why not talk about ****ing Grand Theft Auto 4, one of the most expensive videogames ever made?
Yes, there used to be a time when a tiny development team could pump out a fun videogame and have it make money. But as COSTS increase, it damn well stands to follow that companies are going to become more mainstream. Mainstream equals more exposure and a larger audience, which equals a potential to actual turn a profit.
And yes...videogame companies are in it for the profit. If they HIRE EMPLOYEES, then they need to make a profit in order to keep on making games. That's how the real world works. How is this any different than the movie industry? As movie production costs escalated into the tens or hundreds of millions of dollars, it is NECESSARY that companies start looking to appeal to the mainstream. If you're spending $150 million on a movie, then you sort of NEED to appeal to an audience that can potentially give you a profit.
Still...even in movies, there are people making movies for cheap. Kevin Smith is world-famous, and he shot Clerks on basically no budget whatsoever. And...people still love Clerks. Same with Robert Rodriguez. He made El Mariachi on basically no budget, and got worldwide fame and a ****load of money. Even with movies, it is still possible for a talented and smart and dedicated person to make a movie on no budget that people actually want to keep watching.
So...why would the same thing not apply with games? For starters, the mainstream direction of videogames has been going on for a LONG ass time. MW2 and the Wii didn't set any precedent there. And secondly, as the industry keeps getting more bloated and expensive, how does that negate the possibility of a Robert Rodriguez or a Kevin Smith coming onto the scene and making an alternative to the big-budget mainstream crap? If that happens in movies, what's keeping it from happening in games? What's keeping a small and talented team of developers from working on a small budget anf using their limited resources to make a game that is just plain FUN?
EDIT: And...how can can you POSSIBLY talk about the Wii killing off games when the PS3 And the 360 retailed for around $500 or $600? Do you realize that Sony and Microsoft supposedly took huge losses on the console hardware in the expectation of making back that money on games? In other words, they made expensive ass consoles, and sold them at a price that LOST THEM MONEY. They basically PAID people to buy those consoles. And...since a business can't operate like that, by just selling **** at a loss, the profit has to come in somewhere. And yeah...The PS3 and 360 were intended to turn a profit based on GAME SALES. And the only way that can happen is if a LOT of people are buying games for the PS3 and 360. In which case...they've entered the mainstream. The entire business model is based on games being mainstream enough that they can sell a console at $600 and still take a significant loss on every console sold.
MW2 and the Wii didn't do **** as far as making games more mainstream. Games have been mainstream for a LONG ****ing time.
Aren't girls below 18? Some of you people are sick, sick sick

Nice try buddy, everyone knows we mean girls not kids
It is an easy answer for me-Girls. I don't know if I would want a gamer girl...Maybe just a girl who would be willing to chill with me every once in awhile and play a game. Just that though.
I've dated all non-gamers in the past and I always felt guilty playing games when I could be out with them. Next woman I date is going to have to be as geeky as myself. Better to include someone you love in the things you're passionate about.
girls but only in the sexual sense, if it's a long drawn out relationship i choose videogames :P
i like my freedom.

Not all women will do that for you. If there *is* a woman that would do that for you, sure, she could bring you a lot more happiness than video games. But if it's simply dating a girl vs. video games, then I'd choose video games. I love my video games! Please Log In to post.
