Hey OT, I hope you can show me you all like some good music.

You have grown out of liking metal haven't you? I mean you're all over 16 right?

My favourite Album is Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea

it transcends anything I've ever heard and it probably beats anything you like by a long shot. I hope you've listened to it.... you have heard it haven't you?

Now, tell my what your favourite album is and why?

Do you like Huey Lewis and The News? Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '87, Huey released Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. Sussudio, a great, great song, is a personal favorite.

Yes TC, we all know you hate metal. Anyway, I'll go with a bit of a copypasta.

Bloodbath - Resurrection through carnage.

Carcass - Heartwork

Dismember - Like An Everflowing Stream

Eluveitie - Spirit

Jeff Loomis - Zero Order Phase

Machine Head - The Blackening

Metal Church - Metal Church

Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor

Possessed - Seven Churches

Rotting Christ - Theogonia

Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss

Suffocation - Pierced From Within.

I like them because they're good to listen to.

A well orchestrated and executed mix of Southern Metal/Rock, Sludge, Stoner Rock and Groove Metal. Each member, who cut their teeth in bands such as Pantera, Corrosion of Conformity, Crowbar, and Eyehategod, puts forth a sample of their past and meld it into a single album that is pure musical euphoria.

I find this both hilarious and annoying. I grew to love metal about a year ago... and I just turned 25 in December. Anyways... you figure out which album I like the most: Though, I just found a new band that is in a genre I didn't think I would like (High on Fire; stoner doom metal)

Though, I just found a new band that is in a genre I didn't think I would like (High on Fire; stoner doom metal)Zeviander

High on Fire is great. Definitely check out Sleep, Matt Pike's band before he formed HoF.

Either Sabaton- Coat of Arms or Symphony X-V: The New Mythology Suite. Both of them are hard hitting power metal that were my entry in that sub-genre.

So anyway, my top albums: Loveless - MBV OKC - Radiohead Kid A - Radiohead Sigh No More - Mumford & Sons (guilty pleasure) In The Airplane over The Sea - NHM (brofist, TC) My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - Kanye In the Court of the Crimson King - King Crimson kamikaze_pigmy

So you like the /mu/ essentials plus Mumford and Sons >_>

(not that there's anything wrong with that)

Definitely will. I found HoF through reading a review of their latest album and am really impressed. Also just got the only album by Mares of Thrace today. Going to listen to it on the way to work.
