Hugging random strangers is creepy.

Yes. One time some older lady in her sixties that I'm vaguely related to and only "met" that day (by met I mean that we were in the same building) and went around and hugged everybody, including me when she left. No big deal, didn't know her that well but whatever. Next day. My family and I are at a function and guess what, shes there, all 200 some odd pounds of her. So she starts going around hugging everybody and when she gets to me she gives me this look like "You ain't never gonna forget this". In a flash she uses her body weight to push me up against the wall and pin me down and starts "hugging" me. It was so uncomfortable and embarrassing that I started to try and wiggle free, but she wouldn't have it, she just kept me smooshed against the wall, I would have done more but I didn't want to hurt her. After what seemed like an eternity, but was more along the the lines of the most awkward 20 seconds in history she finally let me go and walked away. My brothers, my sisters, my brother in-law all saw it, and they were all equally stunned. In a sense it felt like being raped, I mean the only way it could have been worse was if she was naked. So in short yes, It can be assault, I would have personally preferred being punch in the gut.

First, distract target...
Then block her blind jab, counter with cross to left cheek. Discombobulate.
Dazed, will attempt wild haymaker. Employ elbow block, and body shot. Block feral left, weaken right jaw, now fracture.
Break cracked ribs, traumatize solar plexus, dislocate jaw entirely.
Heel kick to diaphragm...
In summary: ears ringing, jaw fractured, three ribs cracked, four broken, diaphragm hemorraging. Physical recovery: six weeks. Full psychological recovery: six months.
Capacity to give hug....neutralized.
I literally LOLed:lol:

Not assault, but definitely a sexual offender.
I think just putting him on the list and a fine should suffice.(maybe some psychological care
sSubZerOo
.... Wait.. What? You want him to be put on the same list with rapists, pedophiles etc etc because he hugged some one? Its definitely harrassment, but seriously you want to make it a sexual offense?
LOL that's what i thought as well.----------
I was on campus one time and a group of guys and girls were giving hugs. kinda odd but i wasn't complaining :P
What's wrong with a hug? There's too much hate in this world. People need more hugs, especially attractive, big breasted girls.
I think it's harassment but assault? Maybe that's going a bit too far especially if he's not mentally well. Perhaps he needs help first.
Technically, they're a battery, since you're physically touching another person. I would imagine, however, that the damages for such an "offense" would be nominal and based on principle alone.
Yes, I think that qualifies as assault.Genetic_Code
There can be an assualt without touching, but if there IS touching, it is a battery (with an assault also being possible as well). The assault simply implies that the actor put the recipient in a state of apprehension of unwanted physical contact/harm - it doesn't not require actual contact. Battery, on the other hand, is satisfied as long as there is physical contact between two actors which is not consented to and can be seen as improper, considering the situation.
Serial hugger ?
Yeah that's kind of creepy I guess but giving hugs is no crime unless you try to do unwanted things to the person.
This guy sounds like he's got a few screws loose in his head. Forcibly kissing a girl is not something you do if you don't want to get arrested though, for the hugging itself its just weird but I don't know about assault since harassment might fit better.
Missouri authorities are trying to decide whether they are legally allowed to press assault charges on a man described as a "serial hugger."
"Jack" reportedly approached different women and said things like, "Remember me? From down the street?" or "I live in the house on the corner," and while each tried to remember who he was, he'd wrap his arms around her for a hug. Although police are certainly relieved they don't have a rapist or a murderer on their hands, one victim did report being forcibly kissed on the lips.
What do you guys think?
I like hugs as much as the next guy, but from 44 year old creepers, nah. But assult? Really?Davulao
I think it sould only be classed as assault if the hugs are from behind.
