I do certainly recall running into someone who opposed Bush on the basis that he was a liberal.

Ann Coulter? >_>[QUOTE="GodofBigMacs"]George Washington and his fellow founding fathers must be turning in their graves right now.guynamedbillyMore like Lincoln. Washington probably wouldn't have had anything to do with the US' current politics unless it involved a revolution. It seems like this country doesn't follow anything Washington suggested and recommended, such as avoiding political parties and isolating ourselves from world affairs.
I think anyone who compares Obama to Hitler Stalin, Mao or any other brutal dictator should have their voting rights revoked and shipped off to an island in the middle of the pacific ocean.
Seriously though, it is not only an insult to the people who suffered under those dicator's regimes, but it is also fueling more hate for America. Can you imagine what a european would think watching this? If I were a person who suffered under one of these burtal dictator's regimes, I would not only be offended but disgusted with America. Sure you can say "not all Americans/republicans are like this" however, when its this many in these numbers I wouldn't be able to help but think that all republicans are like this.
I'm just saying that is how some people who view this.
I personally think its stupid and ignorant. These protests arent even valid.

Hitler == bad. I don't believe that's cheapening the suffering of the people that were tormented by him in anyway. In fact, it will mean his name will forever exist in infamy (sorry if that sounds cliched).[QUOTE="streloksbolt"]

Keith Olbermann's ranting is like a Wagnerian opera - too long and too loud.it's amazing how easy it is to stoke anger in this country... be it against bush or against obama.. people are just pissed off all the time and it's so easy to sweep them into a fervor by telling them it's the people in power who are responsible for their crappy life...

Each side has it's share of extremists. Each side sells fear. Each side manages to indoctrinate people into believing what they promote as one hundred percent fact.
I don't even think Glenn Beck believes the nonsense he spouts. He's just an entertainer who seeks attention. If he really does hate Obama and Liberalism that much he and all the "birthers" and their kind shouldbreak awayfrom the Union and become radical separatists on an island somewhere.
[QUOTE="GodofBigMacs"]George Washington and his fellow founding fathers must be turning in their graves right now.guynamedbillyMore like Lincoln. Washington probably wouldn't have had anything to do with the US' current politics unless it involved a revolution.
I actually referenced Washington because he loathed partisanship, which is the reason why he was an Independent. Why did he not like partisanship? Gee, I wonder why...
It's amazing how much more politically polarized things have become in this country in the last several months. I was away for 2 months this summer for some Army training and then hiking, almost totally away from the news. When I got back, it was incredible how salient the bias of each network had become. I know before, Fox news had a patently conservative bias, and the other networks had their own leanings, but the vitriol that I've seen being spewed from both sides is incredible. It's like they aren't even trying to conceal it anymore.
I think the OP's united in hatred comment is total BS. We have apprently lost the right to redress our grievances in this country, thanks to the weakness of political correctness. I know a few people who went out and protested, they aren't rabid racists more than anyone else I have met in the states. It's pretty obsurd how touchy people are now and how fast they pull the race card.
I do agree that Beck is a nutball, he flip flops on all sorts of subjects from Ron Paul being an American terrorist (total BS) to the federal reserves legality and corruption to his support and subsequent withdrawal of support for the bailout (moron supported it until he realized how bad it was). Beck should always, however, have the right to grandstand and say what he feels because if you take this right away you are only shooting yourself in the foot.
I might add that Olbermann is a total goon though, him and Rachael maddow are part and parcel of why I can't stomach watching MSNBC anymore but they still have their right to spew garbage.
The moral of the story is don't support what he says, support his right to say it!

This is truly a disgrace to America. Never before has our country been more divided by partisanship and idiocy. George Washington and his fellow founding fathers must be turning in their graves right now.

And thereby displaying what very little you know about them. A protest against nanny-state government being shameful to the Founding Fathers? Seriously? Really?

I would assume a good portion of the founding fathers would be physically slaying most of our current (and most of our last) government for treason.
