What kinds of people have died from this?

I mean its mostly people in mexico, poor country right? If you can't afford food to eat your body ain't gonna be fighting fit. Old people can die of plain old flu just through being weak.

The media are handling this so badly it's ridiculous

hip-hop-cola2

Most people who died form this live in Mexico yes but they have had the swine flu for a lot longer than any other country has. Expect deaths to begin happening in the US soon. The people who have died from this include healthy young individuals who would probably be capable of fighting off any other flu like infection.

lol, so much misinformation.

1. This is not your ordinary flu. It strikes young adults who have normally healthy immune systems. It turns your immune system against your own body. So naturally if you're a young fit 20-30 something then you're probably in the prime of your life, health wise. This is why young people are dying from this disease. Their own immune system is much too strong which in turn overpowers their body and causes them to get sick or even die.

2. History has a nasty habit of repeating itself. The swine flu in the early 1900's (Spanish Flu) developed exactly how this one is developing. People were getting the virus in the spring and they only experienced mild fevers. Few deaths were reported. Then once the cold/cool weather set in the virus came back with a vengeance. It mutated to something far more deadly and killed an estimated 100 million people.

3. This virus is like nothing current scientists have ever seen. It's a mutation from pig, bird and human. It's easily contagious. People are easily passing this virus around, as evidenced in the private school in New York. WE HAVE NO IMMUNITY TO THIS VIRUS. This is what is so scary.

4. And finally, why do we equate Mexico with poor dirty people? The people who have gotten the virus are both poor and middle class. Over 1,600 have been confirmed infected so far! 1600!! I doubt that it's made up fully of the poor. It's silly to think that only the poor are going to suffer because they lack food. Also, a lack of food has nothing to do with this virus.

5. If this virus turns into something much bigger than we are the ones who will feel it's effect. Not the very young and not the old. It's going to be young people like us who have strong immune systems.

Maybe this is gods way of cleaning house? I hope not.

I don't see why they don't just enforce a bar on all flights to mexico and reduce air travel in general, it may seem extreme and people going on holiday would be ****ed off but a year without air travel is a small price to pay for keeping the world safe from a pandemic. Pandemics were never such an issue before air travel became publicly available. Just to be safe all countries should also shoot down birds flying into their airspace :D

Sheesh. Don't even get me started. The rest of your post was misinformation too. Such as: 1. Healthy young people are fighting it off fine. The deaths were only in Mexico, and it's only an estimated 109 of 1,600 +, which is somewhere around 7%, and those probably were the poor, less than healthy people. So far 100% of all cases in the rest of the world, including the U.S. have seen zero fatalities. Only recoveries. No nedd to get all fear-mongery on us. 2. In the 1900s, medicine and technology were not as advanced as today, not to mention they were less prepared. There's no way it would be that bad ever again. 3. All influenza viruses pass easily. We have no immunity to ANY influenza virus. That's nothing new. People have died from less severe strains of the flu in the past. You'll hear more deaths in this case, but only because it's so widespread, moving along at a slightly higher than usual pace, and a more resilient strain of the flu... but as we've ALREADY seen, most people are handling it just fine. 4. Lack of healthy food has a lot to do with how healthy a person is, which is intertwined with how well their ability to fight illness is. 5. Where did you get this from?

It's even lower than 7%. First of all, that's only Mexico, AND that's only a possibility. Out of 109 recent deaths in Mexico, only if all 109 are found to have been caused by this flu, only then would the number be at 7%. It's probably more around 5%. And that's %5 in Mexico, 0% EVERYWHERE ELSE. Keep in mind, these people who died probably weren't as healthy as you or I (I'm assuming you're healthy). Not only that, but ALSO keep in mind that since Mexico is where it first broke, unknowingly, it's been affecting them longer. Since we know about it now, we can go to the doctor at the first signs of illness, and have it taken care of before it takes a strong hold on us. Don't let this thing bog you down too much. In the end, you rpobably won't even be affected. The media is just stirring up a lot of noise right now, and it's easy to get all caught up in it, but just remember that not only are the chances of death so low, but on top of that, the chances of even getting this virus in the first place is very low as well.

Militaries, especially those of elite countries, have always been trying to find new ways of conducting warfare. The concept of man purposely creating a disease is not new. I find this flu outbreak more likely to be man made than naturally occuring. There's still a chance that a swine-bird-human flu could occur naturally, but keeping in mind the state of the world right now and the timing of this, it would be less surprising to discover it was man made. That's just my opinion though.

Ebola doesn't even have a 100% kill rate. Are you telling me that if the ebola virus broke out where we live that there would be nothing to worry abotu because it doesn't have a 100% kill rate?

The reasoning is because the virus has been a lot more prevalent in Mexico where it originated specifically because it has been in that area a lot longer.

Their own immune system is much too strong which in turn overpowers their body and causes them to get sick or even die.

Aim

It should be noted that the idea that the 1918 flu pandemic killed only healthy young adults is false. It killed young people and old people just as well as any other flu. What is more the case is that healthy young adults died from it more than they died from most flu viruses:

Aim

Er, no, it didn't exactly develop exactly how this one is developing. Even way back when it started in March 1918, fevers from the flu reached over 103 degrees F.

There were a number of factors that led to the disasterous 1918 epidemic, none of which are present today:

1. Both intranational and international travel were quickly growing, but information propagation had not - thus, people could easily carry the disease great distances, but people had no idea what was happening when it got there.

2. World War I was raging and the soldiers' lack of ability to be concerned about their health provided an absolutely perfect breeding ground for the virus - the more virulent strains of the virus which showed up in August 1918 erupted in western Europe right where the front lines were located.

3. Medical technology was nowhere near at the levels that they're at today.

I hope not.

Thank you I hate how people think we still live in "pueblos" with dirt, mud and donkeys, and wear big "sombreros".
