Agreed. I think global warming is highly over exaggerated, but that doesn't mean it's ok to keep polluting they way we are.

What does anyone have to gain by making up global warming? The whole argument's nonsensical. The levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere have shown a steady increase (link). Carbon dioxide does not absorb the ultraviolet range of the electromagnetic spectrum (which most of the energy from the sun reaches us as, due to the equation energy = plank's constant x frequency), but does absorb infra-red radiation, which the earth emits back. so a smaller and smaller proportion of energy entering leaves.

Technically, Global Warming is a THEORY... So it can be likely that it is true, but it isn't 100% proven...
(Theres also the debate of if the symptoms of Global Warming are naturally occuring on the Earth, or if humans have caused it)

oh, and a super powerful being created the Universe.

that last comment makes me question the seriousness of this thread, though.
(I'm not saying someone is stupid or silly for beleiving in that, but your comment was completely out of the blue, in a way that just seems like this is one of the threads mocking OT's habits of repeating topics.......

Agreed.

Global warming may just be a catalyst to get people environmentally concerned. And I really dont care because i think people need to be.

The only way for people to look to alternative fuels is to create some sort of threat that makes people want to do it. And the threat on being burned up alive on our own planet is pretty significant.

But then again I am sure that all that Co2 we are putting up into the air everyday is not going to just sit up there and harmlessly twittle its thumbs.

Earth wouldn't be able to support life without global warming, grade 9 Science teaches you that...

Even if humans do not have such a great effect on global warming, then atleast let us hope this will get people to think of the environment.

All it comes down to is that we as a society must use biodegradable and renewable resources, so we don't **** up the planet for our next generation and the generations of other species.

We are priviledged to be here, whether it was because of a god or not, we have to respect the planet that allows us to live.

The ocean, forests and other animals all produce more CO2 per year than humans, our affect on GW is less than minimal...

wernt a lot of the scientist that say global warming is fake said that smoking does not cause cancer. A lot of people underestimate the true destruction we can cause to the environment, the Earth is very fragile and we need to take responsibility for the damage we cause. Plus how can you call it natural when the Co2 levels are higher than the normal levels and that the levels started going up in the 1800s during the industrial revolution.

Well, technical global warming (and cooling) is not a myth, the Earth constantly fluctuates its mean temperature. But humans having any sort of impact and it being "dangerous" or a "cause for concern" is a myth.

It's a fact that carbon dioxide levels have been steadily increasing, I never said humans were the cause. Though you do have to think "what's changed?".

I honestly don't know what to believe anymore. There is so much information pushing on either side it's impossible for anyone trying to decide to figure it out. I think we should clean up our enviroment no matter what, there is a big problem there. We will just have to see.

Global warming is NOT a myth. People who say its a myth are American and Chinese capitalists who dont want the economy damaged.

The fact is the human race IS destroying this planet. The only question is how quickly we are gonna do it.

Global warming is in fact happening, that's not being debated. Scientist have more than enough evidecne to show tempetures changing. What is debated is what's causing it, and jumping on the idea that humans did everything is ignorance that I will not tolerate from hippy extremeist.

Excuse me? Have you done your research? Global warming has been around for ever but it's just that now we happen to be speeding it up a little bit. And global warming is overplayed, most likely to get us to switch to greener fuels, energy and change our way of living (not necessarily a bad thing).

So no, the human race isn't "destroying" the planet.

We may be destroying the planet with CFC's and other harmful chemicals that damage the environment but we are not warming the planet up. The planet has had a very torrid history of warming and cooling cycles that occurred many times before humans were even harnessing fire.

United States and China are also a lot bigger and more industrialized than Britian. And what do you mean "haven't taken steps to reduce our own carbon footprint". United States and China are also a lot bigger and more industrialized than Britian. And what do you mean "haven't taken steps to reduce our own carbon footprint". I'm not the one to tell you what's being done exactly, but I'm certain those scientist in the feild aren't just sitting on their ass doing nothing all day.

See, thats the whole problem, you people think you dont have to do anything and leave it to scientists who you assume will just fix the problem and it will go away without any effort at all on your part.
