God has a good reason why he allowed Adam and Eve to sin.

Sure God allowed Adam and Eve to sin, but it was their choice. I don't know why God gave them a choice to be eat the fruit, but God did not do it, so people can disobey him and rape people and stuff. I mean first of all when sin came in the world Jesus had a choice to die on the cross, he did not have to, but he did. But if sin wasn't in the world, then he there would be no need for him die on the cross.

I'm still at awe as to how an almighty, powerful god could get so pissy over somebody eating an apple.

Your point? So God gave Adam and Eve free will but also provided for their downfall with the foreknowledge that it would occur.

I think when people write "Reason" and "God" in the same sentence, the OT dies a little inside.

Yeah, smug one-liners get really annoying around here in such a short amount of time. As much as I like challenging the ideas behind religion, I still do the same for anything that is aimed at opposing any sort of theism.

God wants fellowship with you not because of what you are but because of what He is.

  • He is loving
  • He is giving
  • The best He can give is Himself.
  • He has given you the Holy Spirit so that you might have God living within you. Not in a desert sanctuary or a stone temple, but in a living intimate way.

????????????

All throughout my catholic youth, I've been told that Jesus has died for our sins. I always accepted this and never really questioned it. Through thinking over time, though, it's made me wonder.

Why didn't Jesus die for US, not our sins? By Jesus dying for our sins, it gives me the feeling that he cares about us obeying him and/or his father more than he does caring for ourselves. It seems to me like God is more intent on pleasing himself and making himself feel even more high & mighty than before (which is pointless, because he's "omnipotent").

I am saying God had a good reason for allowing it. I mean God suffered from Adam and Eve's choices.

You only really justified why Adam and Eve sinned not why God allowed them to. If I was to try and defend Gods actions (including the tree of knowledge in Eden) I would say something along the lines of 'free will doesn't truly exist unless there is an opportunity to exercise it, therefore if God made Adam and Eve with free will then he had to include the option to sin'.

We should do this to every religion topic to ensure that the boards don't get clogged up with boring topics that go on for more than 20 pages. We could be like a special dispatch unit designed to maintain the sanity of the OT board.

That's very nice and all, but that basically loops us around, once again, to what I was just asking: why does he care? Again, he's all powerful and omnipotent, why should he care about our opinions when he "hand-crafted us from the womb"?

I think we've succeeded in totally de-railing this religion topic.

Blood-Scribe

We should do this to every religion topic to ensure that the boards don't get clogged up with boring topics that go on for more than 20 pages. We could be like a special dispatch unit designed to maintain the sanity of the OT board.

I approve of this idea. But it would take a heck of an effort to stop one of these juggernauts. It's like trying to stop a train with a tricycle.

God wanted to see if they love him or not! God didn't want us to be robots, So he gave them free will. To be obey or disobeyGod IMO maybe wanted them to know that he is GOD! God is the only one who can save you.

God cares about how pathetic little pieces of biological matter care about him?

He's ****ing GOD for Christ sakes. Why would he care about the opinions of little hairless apes that he created through sheer boredom? I'd like to know, really.

  • You can know Him, experience Him, and feel Him.
  • He made the universe for you.
  • He created you for Him.

That's very nice and all, but that basically loops us around, once again, to what I was just asking: why does he care? Again, he's all powerful and omnipotent, why should he care about our opinions when he "hand-crafted us from the womb"?

You're lucky you didn't grow up in a Catholic orphanage, the nuns would lynch you for that kind of thinking.

[QUOTE="-theCHUD-"]You know, Jesus died for your sins, if you don't sin, then he died for nothin!-Jiggles-

Seems like Jesus cares for our sins more than he does us.

God want us to live forever in the kingdom of haven! Jesus die for us! don't you know that!? We will be in HEll right now if it wasn't for Jesus. He die for us! So we can be forgivien & have everlasting Life!
