Never been to a movie alone myself, but at 28 you won't look that wierd. People will probably just think that you're a husband who's wife isn't interested in action films or something of the sort.

I don't think it's weird. if you wanna see a movie, and u dont have anyone to go that day/night go alone. About the same as watching a movie alone at home.

Ok, I'm 28 years old, and for the first time in my life I am considering going to a movie alone. I was out of town this weekend and didn't get a chance to see Batman, and everybody I know has either seen it already or has no intention of seeing it, and so I'm in a position I've never found myself in.

My first thought was I guess I'll wait till next weekend and make someone see it again, but dangit, I don't want to wait that long!! So my second thought was why don't I just go during the week sometime by myself? However, immediately I thought about all the weird looks I'm going to get in the theater, and especially from my friends and family when I tell them I went to a movie by myself. It really does kind of freak me out lol.

What the hell? Thoughts? Anybody ever gone to a movie by themselves? I didn't realize how weird it seemed till I considered actually doing it.

tlcain

lol dude, do it. its an interesting expeince. ive done it before. you sound paranoid though, just go there to just watch the film and enjoy it as much as possible, dont worry about people, because dude, NOBODY there is even going to care about you or even notice you, theyre there to watch a friggin movie

dude, stop making him more paranoid. ive done it before, nobody is going to pay any attention to you at all and seriously dont care enough to think that much about anyone. seriously, who is going to look at a guy during a movie and think "hmmm, he alllll alonnnneee.....must be married, hmmm no ring?....well maybe he just reallyy likes batman..or wait, maybe he just has no friends...well maybe they all saw it...well couldnt he just get a date?...well maybe he cant find one..ohhh poor guy..."

lol seriously, just go, you'll enjoy the movie more because of it, less disruption. and its neat being in a crowded theater and feeling isolated and 1 on 1 with the movie at the same time. its a great way to view a movie and its how most reviewers do it. they show up to a critics viewing, sometimes they know the people there sometimes they dont at all, and theyre just there to view the movie without disruption anways. you'll have a better chance at fully realizing it too.

Honestly, I don't see why it's weird. You don't always have to be around friends anytime you are in public. I was once planning to go the the movies alone one night, but my friend called and asked what I was doing and I told her I was going to the movies and she asked with who and I said myself, she came with me then because she was afraid I'd look like a loser...I enjoyed the company but watching movies alone is ideal for me, then I actually concentrate on the movie rather than joke around. If you seen someone by themselves at the cinema, would you consider it a big deal?

Don't feel weird at all going to see it by yourself. I don't think people honestly really care if you go alone, it's just that people usually don't. There's absolutely nothing wrong or weird about it though. My friends and I are big Batman fans, but I'm the biggest one out of the bunch lol. We're going to see it in IMAX on Saturday (2nd time IMAX, 3rd overall for me), but I'm planning to see it again in IMAX on its final day. I'll probably go alone for that showing because I doubt anyone else will want to go lol.

I really don't think people care.

And if they do, they're idiots, so you shouldn't care what they think anyway.

I mean, if a guy is in a theatre, watching me watching the movie by myself, and ponders on how weird I am rather than watching a movie he paid to see, I don't think I'd have any reason to feel weird...

See listen to this guy. I have never been to see a movie alone, but I imagine in the future there will be a time when I will want to go see a movie and none of my friends or family will be able to go with me, and I will not hesitate to go by myself. Ive seen many people go and never thought it was wierd or strange. Once I saw a 13 yr old kid seeing a movie all by himself, and no one, including myself, cared.

Never went to the cinema alone, but that's cause i don't like cinemas all that much. When i do go to the cinema, it's more to please the gf than for myself. But anyways, i don't think there is anything weird about going alone, people aren't gonna start thinking you're a weirdo or something just because you're alone at the cinema, they wont even pay atention to it.

No one at the theatre will care, I'm sure they won't even notice you, let alone give you weird looks. It's really not a big deal, you just wanted to see the movie but didn't have anyone to go with, why shouldn't you go alone then? What's wrong with that? I also don't see why your friends and family would find it weird or complain about it.

I used to go to the movies alone a lot. Especially when I got bored at work and I knew no one would miss me. I also used to go a lot when I took my car to get fixed as their was a movie theater in walking distance and i didn't want to wait a few hours watching basic cable in a waiting room. Also, when I went on a bussiness trip and I needed to kill time before a flight I would find a movie to see. If anyone actually cares I think they are the weird ones.

I don't see the difference. I usually go alone anyway because I don't like the same movies as my friends. I've never noticed anyone else so I can't imagine why you would think everyone is going to judge you. If you were the only one in the cinema then it would be weird.

It's probably the first movie I'd like to see on my own, I'd like to have complete focus on it. It is a bit strange, I've never seen a film in the cinema on my own, but The Dark Knight is a special occasion.

If you're trying to pick up chicks at the movies, it's better to go alone. If you wanna chill with friends, take them along.

I don't know what anyone can say to make you feel better. I personally don't know why it scares some people when they see someone sitting alone or if they have to go alone themselves. Movies are a personal experience and even outside of the theater, I can barely stand watching them with other people.

I go to the movies alone probably 90% of the time. A little bit of the reason why is that it is simply easier to go on my time, but most of the reason I like going alone is because I want to watch the movie. It is bad enough when I have to deal with some people in the audience being loudmouths, but it is simply unbearable when I have a friend sitting next to me making remarks and asking questions on a regular basis.

I've never gone to the cinema alone. If I wanted to see a film, there's usually someone else I know who wants to see it, or at least won't mind seeing it. If not, I just wait for DVD. It does seem kind of strange to go see a film on your own, but there are weirder things you could do.

I use to work at a movie theatre a few years ago part time. There is nothing wrong with seeing a movie by yourself. I never went to a movie alone until I worked there. I would get off work, have some spare time and go see a movie for free. When I left the job the habit never did. If you want to go see a movie by yourself go see it. It shows that you are comfortable with yourself.

[QUOTE="SolidSnake35"]I would feel weird too. That said, I don't even pay attention to others anyway, so I wouldn't notice who was alone or whatever. Besides, it'll be busy in there, I imagine... you won't be isolated. :Ptlcain

Yeah, to be honest, I'm about 10% worried about weird looks at the movies and 90% weirded out about having to tell people I know that I went to a movie by myself. I just know they're all going to be like "What?? Ok...." lol.

Those people are pretty immature then.. After all you keep SILENT watching a movie the entire time.. Its not like your talking with the person you brought with you.

I don't know why it's so weird, but it is. I suppose going to see a film is viewed as more of a social experience than anything, so when people see someone alone in a theater, it kind of defeats the whole social part of it. It shouldn't feel weird, but it does. I wish I could just go to a film by myself, instead I have to see what my friends are doing, if they are busy I have to wait months for it to come out on disc or on television.
