http://www.goldenglobes.org/nominations/

Okay some of these are okay, but a lot are not what I would pick at all. Best picture noms are okay minus Precious, but Abbie Cornish not being nominated for best actress sucks. She was much more impressive than Emily Blunt. The best actor noms are okay, but Morgan freeman should not be nominated. He was just playing the same guy he always plays, and I thought Tobey Maguire was pretty good but a bit over the top. I would replace Morgan with Viggo mortensen or Kodi Smit Mcphee for their performance in The Road, and replace tobey maguire with Johm Malkovich for Disgrace or with Sam Rockwell for Moon. Best picture comedy is again okay nomination wise. It's complicated was nothing special, julie and julia was okay. The hangover, and 500 days over summer are pretty good choices though I question why In The loop wasn't chosen. Best actor in a comedy was okay, but replace Matt damon with Peter Capaldi for In the loop. Best supporting actor has good choices, even stanley tucci is a good choice even though Lovely bones sucked. I would prefer Paul Schneider for bright star, or timothy spall for the damned united. Best animated feature is a predictable one, though I would prefer Mary and max over cloudy with a chance of meatballs. Best score has a weird choice, Marvin Hamlisch's score for the informant should not have been chosen. It was one of the worst of the year. I hope Abel Korzeniowiski's score wins, it is much better than the other choices. I see Always sunny in philadelphia was snubbed again, but I could predict that. What do you think? Sorry if this has been posted before.

Moon gets snubbed I see.

I don't follow awards too closely, but how seriously are the Golden Globes taken? I mean, Ingloriuos Basterds for best picture?

I've never cared for The Golden Globes. It's laughable that The Hangover and Julie & Julia are on there, yet A Serious Man isn't.

These are what I agree with the most. Paul Schneider was great for such an unlikable character. Words can't describe how awesome Peter Capaldi was. He was one of the most entertaining characters of the year for me.

But seriously, why is Tobey up there and not Rockwell or Renner?

Everyone is praising Tobey, and he hasnt done a serious drama like this for a while. I thought he was over the top to be honest. Paul Schneider was fantastic, even though you hated him you could understand his character. His scene near the end when he breaks down was heartbreaking. Same with the break down scene Abbie Cornish did. She is a fantastic actress and miles better than Emily blunt. Peter Capaldi was amazing. He made swearing into an art. His insults were so good, my favorite phrase of his was "Nazi julie andrews."

I hope he gets an oscar nom, though I know he wont. In the loop is going to get ignored by the oscars probably:( Jamie was an awesome character too.

They choose better films than the oscars sometimes, but I dont think they are taken seriously by everyone. Something about Foreign press voting, some people dont like that for some reason.

As much as I like John Lithgow, Michael Emerson better win for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television:x

Same... the Oscars aren't that great either, but they're at least more legitimate. I'm disappointed that The Road got no nominations... also, I find it interesting that Invictus got Best Actor/Supporting Actor/Director nominations but not a Best Picture one. I'm looking forward to seeing it still, probably will try to go this week.

Same here, which is really a shame. I hope it at least gets a nomination for a major category... hopefully Best Picture. I wouldn't expect it to win anyway, in part because too many people think it's too depressing, but I'll be disappointed if it gets completely snubbed.

I hope Viggo gets a best actors nomination instead of Morgan freeman or tobey maguire at the oscars. I havent heard much Oscar hype for the road yet, but that doesnt really mean anything. It could hopefully surprise everyone.

I have yet to see The Road. I am reading the book right now though. I can't help but feel Liam Neeson as the father when reading the book :P Anyway, those nominations seem pretty normal for a GG award

Yeah the 10 nominations will get the road in, it better at least. This is a good year for the oscars because all the hyped films were good to me. I think these are my main choices for the awards you mentioned. I haven't heard much hype for best actor or actress yet, though there are good choices this year.

Best supporting actor:

Christoph Waltz for Inglorious basterds

Paul Schneider for Bright star

Woody Harrelson for The Messenger

Timothy Spall for The Damned United

Kodi Smit Mhphee for The Road- This kid was fantastic.

Christian McKay- Me and orson welles

Best actor:

Viggo Mortensen for The Road

John Malkovich for Disgrace

Johannes Krisch for Revanche

Michael Sheen for The Damned united

Sharlto Copley for District 9

Joaquin Phoenix for Two Lovers

Colin Firth for A single man

Sam Rockwell for Moon

Best Actress:

Abbie Cornish for Bright star

Carey Mulligan for An Education

Michelle Monaghan for Trucker

Arta Dobrashi for Lorna's silence

Yolande Moreau for Seraphine

Gwyneth Paltrow for Two Lovers

Tilda Swinton for Julia

Any of those choices would be fine.

Brother I agree with you!! I mean, what the hell are these people smoking? Not only is A Serious Man not nominated in the comedy category it wasn't even nominated for Screenplay?! They picked District 9!!! District 9?! Its an action movie!! Christ almighty. They must not have seen Mary and Max or something. They seemed to just have picked all the American animated stuff. Thats probably just what they saw. Big disappointment with these awards. Yeesh, I hate to think what the Oscars going to be like. *Dreads lame comedies for Best Picture*

tobey mcguire....what a joke...

chAzN93

To be fair he was actually pretty good in Brothers.

uhhh...no he wasnt.

He was a bit over the top at times, like the execution scene when he was captured was a bit ridiculous. The face he made was really over the top. He wasnt bad though, I liked his freak out scene at the end. It wasnt as good as the original danish film though. I actually though jake Ghllenhaal was better than Tobey. I found his character more interesting while Tobey's was just unlikeable. I never felt a connection between him and Natalie Portman. There are tons of better choices than Tobey Maguire for an award.

[QUOTE="Film-Guy"]It's not exactly very popular either.

Thank the Weinstein's for that one.

They seem to go out of their way to make sure a film fails. Not only have they pushed back The Road, but they barely release it anywhere. Such a shame too because I thought the road was an amazing film. Probably my favorite film this year next to A Serious Man, and In the loop.

They should have cast someone better like Ryan Gosling, Ben Foster or Paddy considine to play his part.

Heh, told you all Avatar would be nominated! :P

Well, I know its the Golden Globes, but this definetely increases the chances of it being nominated at the Oscars.

And WTF. Sandra Bullock nominated for 2 major Golden Globes has to be one of the biggest jokes I've ever seen.

Yeah I have been getting into it and I love it so far. Katey Segal, Ron Perlman, and Charlie Hunnam are great in it. Shame it didnt get nominated.

I actually liked Sandra Bullock in The Blind Side. Aside from a few stand out performances, and a couple that werent nominated I dont think this has been a great year for actresses in lead roles.

Katey Segal deserves a win. Did you finish both seasons?

I am half way through the second. It has become my favorite show on tv next to Dexter, and Breaking bad. There is always a show that gets ignored by the golden globes. Always sunny in philadelphia has been ignored for ages.

The second season is so much better than the first. Yeah, the Golden Globes suck.
