22Toothpicks

can't do better than that?

When I look in your eyes
I see a future I desire
I look at what I have now
it's nothing without you in it
The days turn into nights
my loneliness grows
My only hope lies
within the hand I hold...

Well, this is something I wrote, but it's not as positive:

With allure like that
The question isn't asked
It is a demand
An electric decision
Already made
Say it's mutual
Say I'm happy
Have my life
And my soul
In a wayward thought
You walk through my door
But, as it wont happen
Neither will I.

I've never gotten anyone's thoughts on my stuff :3

What say you to this?:

As plastic as they come,
You're still brought back completely open,
And down, beneath your smile,
There are words still unclean
My head repeating your whisper,
Don't know if I'll ever respond to that,
And I'm not sure if you even know my name,
But these are the easiest words I could say:
My world needs you.

Oh painful rhymes concealed within OT!
Must you inflict thy grief upon my eyes?
We all would do much better to resist
than mumble nothings easy to despise.

Edit: I didn't mean this to sound quite so callous but it just came out that way  I think it's a message to myself more than anything tbh.

Sorry for the wierd text color, this one is called Charade:

As you walk-up
I swallow hard
Begin my expected routine
Make movements ill-informed
Seeing your face wanting more to come
But this whithering curtain
Is a waning maroon
It is soon called
Carried off
But new lines form
More eyes and ears yearn
Now begin again the make-believe

OK so I can't possibly decide which troll to use so here goes. Multiple trolls. 1. Will you be riding a proud white stallion, my lord? 2. Bad poem is pretty bad. 3. Your love should go in her box. Not the other way around. 4. There's a traffic jam on the stars route. You should take the Saturn route. 5. Cashier's NEVER SMILE to customers. Dude, just invite her out to lunch, ask her for number...AND THEN, while you're out with her you could tell her that you planned to give her this poem but you were a bit shy that she might laugh at you. This way you get still get points for the poem and also get points for being normal. This is the way to go. Sorry for the trolls but I just couldn't resist. ;)

If his intentions are to scare the poor girl away, he might very well succeed. It just seems the safest bet is to just say hi and strike up a conversation while he's buying something.

I see no reason to make the rejection anymore hurtful.

for some...simply chatting up a person isn't the easy way to do it, if they make it look goofy or silly or a joke, then if she blows him off...he can say that it wasn't serious. Right?

Writing a poem seems like an awful much to just be a joke. :P

If he has the guts to give her a poem, I see no reason why he can't strike up a conversation.

Let me just say, this is her place of business. You should respect the fact that she is on her company's time. Me personally I believe in my very humble opinion you should just ask her if she wants to get some coffee/dinner/snack after her shift is up, then you can read her the poetry at that time.

I worked as a cashier for a while and I can tell you that it is a really awkward spot to flirt with someone in. I've done it a few times, but in general I just don't like the feeling of it. When someone flirts with me first blatantly (which only really happened twice there but both times felt pretty weird) while I'm working it's even worse. Getting a love poem while working is not something that would appeal to me. A direct approach of just asking for her number would be better. Save the cute stuff for a better environment.

It just doesn't click in my brain that one could be brave enough to give a girl a love poem, but not brave enough to just start talking to her.

I may have stepped on some toes with my thread yesterday but its good. Yall are like my E-familia so I know we tighter then that!

Anyways there's this girl at walgreens i like. She's fineeee! she always smiles when she sees me come in. always offers me coupons, and offers me a bag for my stuff. Most people make you bag your own, not me she bags mine with love. I was thinking of giving her a sweet little poem "My head is like a mailbox, its full and I don't wanna check it. because baby without your love in my box, its only empty" and then I'll look deep into her eyes and say I want to take a walk with her so we can get lost in the stars together. Will this route work? or will she find it not good?

I hardly think it qualifies as a legitimate job, but thats aside the point. EX: Who do you think you would have to try harder to impress, a secretary at a successful law firm, or a cashier at wallgreens..

If they can tax your paycheck, it's a legitimate job. There are people who would kill for a job at Walgreens.

And those people need to stop and realize their capable of so much more. I work in retail now and it is the most mind numbing task you could ever do, I cant see anyone wanting this. To be a drone for a faceless corporation, and you say people would kill for that? Seriously, what has happened to our species.. Just because you're capable doesn't mean there's opportunity.

With unemployment as high as it is(I'm talking about U6). you're lucky to get a job anywhere. Thus you shouldn't be judging someone based on the job they have right now. My buddy has a masters in political science and he's just a manager at GameStop.

Has it occured to you that most of the people working as cashiers are working part time? She could be working her way through college. Hell, given that I have no clue how old OP is she could be in high school. Even if she is working there full time, there's no shame in it. It's not an ideal career, but the fact that she works at Walgreens doesn't say anything about the quality of the woman.

I work full time at radioshack and I go to school, so yes it has occurred to me. You guys are taking it out of context, people who are doing it as a stepping stool is just fine. Its people who dont strive to do anymore that i dislike. Where I live a majority of people do not go to college, all they do is drugs and go to raves, and they all just work at retail stores, and tell me their just gonna run the place in a few years. I hear that day in and day out, so please dont blame me for seeing it a different way.
