The Nikki Heat series are fun short reads, I also agree with the House of Leaves recommendation. Then there's of course the Drizzt's books.

at least 95% of the books i work with are trashy smutty paperbacks. you know, the kind of stuff YOU read. :PMarioRPGerI am not ashamed
Not even close to sci fi but some of the best... erm... guilty pleasure books I've ever read. Then there's of course the Drizzt's books.

At least by reading the book, you can avoid the sh*tty acting and directing from the films.[QUOTE="Engrish_Major"][QUOTE="lancea34"]
I can understand Harry Potter... but Twilight? Aussie... I am dissapoint. :(

But its better than the movie :D
Never Let Me Go is the best sci-fi book of the 2000's, it may seem girly but anyone with good taste should love it.
[QUOTE="MarioRPGer"]I've read a good deal of Stephen King, but the wife hasn't really gone to horror yet. She's still noobing it up on general fantasy and sci fi with a smattering of vonnegut and that hipster loser tom robbins. And I'll thank you to keep your snark on this subject to yourself. You may have the edge in movies and music but books are my forte. :3[QUOTE="Engrish_Major"] Weird. "the ultimate geek novel" :P I like It's great. I used to read King a lot, but lost interest years ago. I even lost interest in reading Tom Clancy books though he was a favorite. I will have to remember that book you suggested though it is a novel and not history. It looks like an interesting read. Still, I have a backlog of 43 books to read as it is.jand i have the weirdest hunch that you and your wife read Stephen King and have fairly long discussions about his novels.
again, just a hunch.

All of them including his son's which were horribad. Consider it what ya want, its more like Sci Fi / Fantasy mockery of relgion.
Haha I read like 10 pages of his son's tripe and returned the book to the library and never tried them again. All of them including his son's which were horribad. Consider it what ya want, its more like Sci Fi / Fantasy mockery of relgion.

I read them all while on night shift. Thankfully I didn't waste money on them. Borrowed from the library. The novels are basically descriptions of fight after fight after fight after fight with some talking then fight fight fight fight fight fight, talk a lil and attempt to use his fathers idea's and expand on them and fail, fight fight fight fight fight. Crapatola.
did he take an arrow to the knee? One of my fav's is a history book about the Native American's called Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. A great read, but depressing!
