I read in quiet, but I could handle classical or some light jazz while reading I suppose.

I can only concentrate if it's instrumental. I'll sometimes listen stuff like Brian Eno, Boards of Canada and Autechre if I'm reading... although I'll generally not listen to music while reading.

I find it's easier to focus on the reading if you don't play any music... But if you have to then instrumentals are the way to go.

I know when Breaking Dawn comes out I will be up in my room with my tv off, laptop off, and my cell phone off so theres no disturbances... I cant wait xD

For me it is just any music I like really. In particular the band Earshot seemed to fit really well while I was reading the book "Odd Thomas", which is easily the best book I have ever read.

Personally I read in quiet, but I'd listen to classical or instrumental if I wanted music while reading. Anything catchy or with lyrics takes all my concentration away, it doesn't let me read at all.

I read in quiet, but if you are so concerned just listen to some classical or something soft.

I can listen to heavy metal and read at the same time. Also some pink floyd works for the harry potter books!

I never listen to music when reading. But I suppose something ambient would be good.

Music is distracting when I read. I just tune it out of my head if it's on in the same area.

I listen to Tupac or Pantera while I read.

Not kidding.

Check it. I usually read in quiet, but Bliss is wondeful chill out music.

This might be a better one, if you find the lyrics distracting.

I have a hard enough time focusing on reading that music will throw me off. I am a bad reader :(

I enjoy listening to the Doors when I read (or at least, some of the softer stuff, like Riders On the Storm), it's relaxing and helps me concentrate.

I usually don't listen and read but I've listening to Jonny Greewood's Bodysong album. Really relaxing.

Don't bump old threads though.
