Got told to leave the restraunt

The wife and i recently at a local restraunt was asked to leave because the locals know we are on food stamps and goverment welfare .. The wife and myshelf have worked since we were 15yrs..Recently{10 months ago] we were involved in a car crash a Army recruiter plowed into out sitting car at a stop sign. He was drunk .. Again we both cant work now and on goverment assistance and in the middle of a lawsuit..The restraunt asked us to leave because we should be working and not to be welfare scabs .. We had cash to pay the bill.We said we wouldnt leave the called the cops and they told us to leave and not cause a scene.The owners brother was the cop... We cant belive we should be treated in this way.. When the police arrived we were detained in the back of his cop car for 45 mins.. While they said they were checking into things.. At one point we allmost were handcuffed couldnt belive it..Oh well we have been getting letters in our mailbox to leave..I dont think we should have had to leave..Any advice what to do...Everyone have a good New Year..govermentcheese

That's gross! I'm also on disability for Schizophrenia and Clinical Depression and I was looking for an apartment the I told the Land Lords of several different places that I was on Disability and they said that they wouldn't rent to me because I didn't have a job. So I'm living in an apartment that my Mom rents out because I'm 26, and like most 26 year olds I would like to have a place of my own. It sucks, but I'm over it. Give it time, man. "Time heals all wounds" and all that. Still, I'm sorry to hear it ;/

i feel your pain, i too am on public assistance...because thanks to my horrible luck i can't find a job....had one but got laid off in august,

Wow, must be a really small community for them to know so much about you. Spread the word and put the name of that restaurant in the news, that way you can at least ensure that nobody else gets treated that way because of something so stupid.Hungry_bunny

How do so many people in the area know that you are on welfare? Furthermore if they do know that, why don't they know the backstory that put you in this position.

This doesn't make much sense to me; I would think more people would have sympathy for you rather than hate.

OP, if this is really happening, then you should not be offended by my petty perspective on the situation. However, if you are making this up, then you should try harder next time.

Well liked i said before of somebody finding out about this post .. Somebody just called my house again. Said they seen this on here. This will now make the problems worse so the message said . Said i will have to be taught a hard but much neede leason. Somthing soon will happen now everybodys my witness .. Thanks for all of your help.. If iam not here tomorrow youll know why...Like the song said paranoia will destroy ya.. I think that was the KINKS...govermentcheese

I don't like to be the guy to bring this up, but if you are living off of welfare, what are you doing spending extra money at a restaurant?

As for a solution, move to a different place.

Sue them might be hard... since is ususally a private company but which resturant was it and where was it? maybe i give them a call and tell how stupid they are. :|

We were recentlty told to drop it or else.. Dont stir up problems that could cause really big problems.. WE have also gotten nasty phone messages.. We have a couple of them tecorded.. Have had problems also at the local credit union to money that was supposed to be there wasnt.. After a bunch of hassle it was found... We have been getting tired of all theese problems lately..govermentcheese

Wife just got back from the corner store to get a six pack of bud and a pizza we ordered they have a pizza take out place that sells killer pizza. Wondered why it took her so long the police pulled her over and did a quick field soberty check.. Said they had a cell phone complaint of wreckless driver matching wifes car.. She doesnt even drink. She cant drink because of the medications she on from the accident i spoke of before. They let her go and said have a good and safe night. My wife is so mad she is shaking right now which will be followed up by crying all night.. I dont want to tell her of the prank phone calls i got wile she was gone to pick up the pizza..govermentcheese

While I don't agree with what they did, a business owner should be able to treat his customers how he wants. If he/she doesn't want someone there, he/she should be able to enforce that. I'm not excusing it, I'm just saying that they should have the ability to do what they did.lilburtonboy748
