Alexander Karelin(Greco-Roman wrestling) was a monster during his time just destroying any opponent in his way. He won gold at the 88, 92, and 96 Olympic games. He went undefeated for 13 years and not losing a round for almost 8 years straight. He was nicknamed the Russian Experiment because he was huge (286lbs) and just threw large ass men around like ragdolls. He was an amazing athlete that comes around only once in a while.
He's not even the best at his sport. Fedor and Silva are both better. All hail Georges St. Pierre!

He's not even the best at his sport. Fedor and Silva are both better. After Silva's last 2 fights I think GSP is a bit better. Fedor is #1 though. Silva just seems like he has lost his drive, just trying to glide through to retirement.[QUOTE="Ace_WondersX"]

Kobe is a better player skill wise, but not in athleticism. Lebron is 6'9, 250lbs, can run the 40 in 4.4 seconds and can bench 400lbs. Not to mention his ability to fly and the fact he got a better recod than Kobe with a significantly worst team.[QUOTE="Ace_WondersX"]

He's not even the best at his sport. Fedor and Silva are both better. There's a good argument for him being the number #2 P4P fighter in MMA after Anderson Silva's last fight. It's really all speculation, there is no definitive answer for who is the best P4P fighter. I know plenty of people who put GSP at number 1 (not me, but if he beats Anderson Silva that may change).if I'm not mistaken, Dana White even said that he believed GSP is the best in the sport after UFC 97.
I think you could make a decent argument for him being above Fedor, as Fedor hasn't been fighting the same level of competition that GSP has as of late.
But you'll notice that the question was about athletiscm, you don't think Fedor is a better athlete than GSP do you? He looks like a freaking bus driver.
Silva has some good athletiscm, but he's not on the same level as GSP who is the best wrestler in the UFC, and just as quick and strong on the feet.
Best pure athlete in MMA is either GSP or Brock Lesnar. Best fighter is a completely different story. There's a good argument for him being the #2 P4P fighter in MMA after Anderson Silva's last 2 fights. But looks do not make you a great athlete either. GSP has a much better physique than Fedor, but Fedor is fighting and butting heads with guys that most times outweigh but a bit much. Fedor has great cardio and has never gassed in a fight, plus he is throwing guys around like I said that outweigh him but a bit.[QUOTE="FlyingArmbar"]But looks do not make you a great athlete either. I know that looks don't make a great athlete, but I think we can both agree that GSP doesn't just LOOK athletic. When people talk about Fedor's phsyique, I tell them that I've never really seen him gas, so it's obviously not a problem for him. Fedor is quick with his strikes while standing, his ground and pound is absolutely brutal, and he's very quick in the scrambles. But I don't see how you could rank him above GSP with regards to athletiscm.
For me its... 1) Phelps 2) Lance Armstrong 3) Tiger Woods 4) LeBron James ...in that order.Red-Ravens
tiger woods is no athlete, i like golf but its not very athletic, at all
im not saying its easy but you wont get tired when your playing it
id say usain bolt for winning three gold medals in running

I'm not saying you have to be athletic to play it. Just look at John Daily. :P But he is an athlete and it's a sport that he DOMINATES. So yeah. That's why I said him.[QUOTE="kingyotoX"]

Kobe is a better player skill wise, but not in athleticism. Lebron is 6'9, 250lbs, can run the 40 in 4.4 seconds and can bench 400lbs. Not to mention his ability to fly and the fact he got a better recod than Kobe with a significantly worst team.im not expert, but doesnt being on a bad team require you to do more which = better stats? didnt kobe score 81 and 4 games over fifty when the lakers were really bad? i wont dispute who is better but that's just my view on being on a worse team.

No I meant Lebron is on the worst team and he still has a better record than kobe. And when Kobe scores a lot he doesn't do anything else, just score. Lebron will score 60 points get 10 assist from passing to other players, and 10 rebounds.

well, im not sure this qualifies... but from what my friend says (even though he is a james fan) and some other people i've talked to, the cavs played worst teams overall because the east is weaker or something. but, i guess, the lakers also lost against mroe teams they should have beat and done really well against teams they were more evenly matched with so :P i dunno.

Except LeBron has never dropped 60+ in a game......
