Yeah, this.Kubrick, Kurosawa, Lucas, Scorsese, Gibson, Anderson, Spielberg; and a few others.
worthyofnote
My personal fav, Stanley Kubrick. He's responsible for A Clocktower Orange, Lolita, Spartacus, The Shining and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Racial_Slur
It's 'Clockwork', not 'Clocktower'.
Stanley Kubrick is also one of my favourites which also include:
....and many others. I can't really say ONE favourite.
I cannot just name one for me, but there are those that I admire heavily....
Scorcese, Spielberg, Nolan, The Cohen Brothers, James Cameron(All his pre titanic stuff was good imo, and avatar was ok, better then titanic...but...meh), Paul Thomas Anderson, Tarantino, and there are many many others I can list but those are the ones off the top of my head.

i dont believe nobody said Hayao Miyazaki , the brilliant who made spirited away .gubrushadowHave you considered that not all of us watch anime? *sigh* But yes, he deserves a mentioning. He's produced many good movies like Princess Monoke, Spirited Away, and Ponyo. Spirited Away is one of my favorite movies of all time regardless of genre or decade.

Flor, I love you. But, my god, you couldn't be any more wrong. Mononoke is among his least best.

I will have you know that Nausicca is his best, followed by Spirited Away. Furthermore, five minutes into Mononoke, you get hit with the movie's message like a large trout to the face. This continues throughout the movie, happening literally every five minutes or so.
since everyone else is posting their top 10 i might as well. this is my current top 10, though it will probably change in a couple of months or so...
1. martin scorsese
2. david cronenberg
3. david fincher
4. fritz lang
5. ridley scott
6. francis ford coppola
7. tim burton
8. the coen brothers
9. christopher nolan
10. quentin tarantino
In no particular order:
While I don't like throwing around names here, and there are the obvious choices, but realistically all of them have different strengths and weaknesses. Of course, in reference to a director with my personal favourite in style and flair, David Lynch gets my vote.
