Star Wars and LOTR were pretty epic, but Matrix was my fave.

Either LOTR, Spider Man (I even liked the third, even though it's easily the weakest), Star Wars, or The Matrix. That's right, I said The Matrix. Because the first movie is so damn awesome that it completely blocks out the suckiness of the sequels.

neither the matrix nor the godfather can be considered great trilogies. both have superb first and second films, and really dodgy 3rd films.

Lord of the Rings gets my vote, because it is consistently brilliant, not just decent.
