I'm pretty sure the topic is asking for artists that started (or at least started getting a lot of attention) this decade.

This is a lot harder than I thought it would be. Looking through my iTunes, most of the artists I would say have either started in the 80s or 90s. :? I guess Joe Budden or CunninLynguists would be my favorite.

I like Crooked X. They are really good.

I would say Muse, but they released Showbiz in 99.....

Ummm, I will mention The Human Abstract and Mute Math as I see both as having great potential with what they have put out.

I am especially excited for the future of The Human Abstract as they have gotten back their INCREDIBLE guitarist (AJ Minette) and are also changing singers. It looks like the lack-luster second album could just be a tiny stain on their discography if things go right!

I think Sigur Ros should easily be one of the greatest. They are a really fantastic and unique band. Its like everything that comes out of Iceland is great. :P

I'm kind of saddened by the fact that I'm the first to say it, really. Turn on the Bright Lights was one of the best debut albums. Period.

Great band and great album indeed, though I will say "Our love to Admire" was a big let down.

Wolfmother. They remind me of an older style of rock, which is rare to hear these days.

I feel indifferent. Antics as good but "Our Love to Admire" was mediocre to me. It was just meh. I think a major reason was because it didn't have any really strong song that stood out, unlike Antics and TotBL with "Song 7" or "Stella was a driver..."

From Our Love to Admire, I liked "The Lighthouse", "Pioneer to the Falls", "No I in Threesome", and "Mind Over Time." I liked the album but will agree that Turn on the Bright Lights and Antics were better.

This decade still has one more year, but to answer your question i would probably have to go with The Mars Volta.

Arcade Fire probably.

They are probably one of the few "big" bands that hasn't been one giant tiring rehash. If I hear another post-punk revival band I'm gonna vomit.

HEALTH, Los Campesinos and St. Vincent are my favorites. :)
