[QUOTE="Lonelynight"][QUOTE="iliatay"] They all have negatives(obviously) but the positives are what sets them apart; defines them as greatheysharpshooter

What achieved actually made his country worse... His reforms made China even WORSE that it was before, and China was already in a pretty ****ed up state before the reforms.. Causing untold deaths of your countryman and making your country into back ward nation does not make you great... Would you consider Saddam Hussein great?

Not to change the subject... how do you get your sig to change every time I reload the page? Thats pretty freaking cool...

**** its true, never noticed

"A leader is best when people barely know he exists." - Lao Tzu

I always debated in my head this topic and now i want to know what other people think.

my No.1: Adolf Hitler A little homeless boy that grew up to fight great in WW1, lead a party of seven to rule the country, made economic revolutions comparable to roosevelt's and made a broken down country turn into the most feared country. If he only had better military tactics he would have ruled Europe.

Honourable mentions(no order): Augustus Caesar, Cyrus the Great, Lenin and Mao Tse Tsung.

Whats yours?

iliatay

I think his miltary tactics on smaller scale were on par with the rest of Europe big powers. It's just that he tried to take on too many at one time.

Undoubtedly it has to be FDR. Brought the US out of the great depression, won WWII, created the Conservation Corps, rebuilt the economy and infrastructure, Social Security, Labor Relations Act (allowed workers to form unions), reduced unemployment from 25% to 1.9% over his term, raised tax on the wealthy to 100%, established minimum wage, created the housing authority, established the Neutrality Act (banning US companies from shipping arms to enemy nations), and much more. All of this while he was crippled by Polio. Other than him it would have to be JFK.

Hitler was a messenger boy during WWI. He never fired a rifle.
