I used to listen to it every once in a while, and now more frequently after finding out Thom Yorke likes it. :P (I wish I was joking about that.) It's definately better than the American **** nowadays, plus black guys with English accents are really really cool. :P

edit again- while I don't think it would be officialy considered grime, this thread reminded me of the song "Wearing My Rolex". It's so bad but sooo good, now it'll be stuck in my head for the rest of the week. Thanks a lot. :)

[QUOTE="rastaman219"]There are a lot of undergroudn grime artist who are big, try Skepta, JME, Devlin, Wiley's older stuff. In my eyes its more bareable than the 'MC' music that is more popular in North England, you see in the South its Grime, 16 beats (I think) to a bar so its quite quick. Whilst MC is even faster but also more spoken then Grime which is done is a faux Jamacain descended accent. MC also is usally a lot less serious and about getting drunk ect. Youtube Blackout Crew if you dare xD

MC just means mic controller / master of ceremonies or words to that effect. Blackout Crew from Bolton are more of a bassline / donk genre. North England - Manchester and Birminghamd - also has a thriving grime scene. Grime is not 16 beats to a bar, it's still 4 beats to a bar but to a tempo of 140bpm and it isn't done in a faux Jamaican accent unless you are talking about Tuggawar (youtube him) who is just an idiot. If you're referring to some words like 'wagwan' etc those are just slang words conceived through an integration of patwa and english.

Btw I like grime a lot, just not the more common violent songs. My favourite artists are Tinie Tempah, Giggs (who is UK rap and not grime as grime is 140bpm), Skeng Kid, Oboi, Desperado and Messy. There's more but I just can't remember them atm.

I like lethal bizzle, but i like him in the same way that soulja boy makes me smile when it comes on in a club. It's just dumb, in a fun way. I like a lot of american rap, but british rap has never really appealed to me because it all seems to be of that same, over-the-top, playing a character silliness.

Grime is behind American rap by about 10 years or more. Their style of rap is more like what the American style of rapping was in the very early 90's. Their beats are also very simple and not as good. American rappers now have more "showmanship".. it's hard to explain it.. but it's like swagger on record. American rap has much better production. Basically, grime is behind American rap by about 10 years, it's beats are more simplistic, production is lacking, and the whole genre is lacking.

Having said that, I do like some songs..

You're basically saying grime is like american rap of the 90s, which literally couldn't be more wrong. The two are nothing alike. Grime isn't like american rap at all, at any point in it's history.

If its not form in and around the London area then it is not grime. Grime is a word originally used to describe music from the London undergrouund music scene. And were im from Blakout ccrew are called MC, although it may differ in diffrent areas of the uk #

Um, that's not true at all. Grime is big in manchester and liverpool. That's like saying blues originated in the slave fields, therefore any similar music which didn't come from such an environment isn't really blues. It doesn't matter where it came from, music is music.
