...must really suck.

Seriously. What the hell happened to the good old-fashioned action cartoon? Where's the Thundercats or Transformers or TMNT of today?? I don't see how kids stand it.

That's what I think about. Maybe the generation before us thought the same way.

Now I feel really old.

But yeah I feel the same way. I guess the only cartoon that has had a some what lasting effect is Sponge Bob.

Well, I can definately say that the cartoons of today are certainly more 'filtered' than what I grew up with.

they really dork-a-fied Superman and Batman. The Old Kids WB batman and superman were great and had a better plot to them. The Justice League was great beacause it had a deep plot and some times they say stuff like"What the F...(they get interupted)" and always sneak in adult humor. Look at the new Superman

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legion_of_Super_Heroes_%28TV_series%29

He looks like someone sucked all the fat out of him. Same goes for this new Spiderman cartoon

Spiderman looks like an alien. Who ever drew up this idea should be fired. What happend to the old animationteam were they lazy and just made cartoon versions of the charecters

Maybe it just takes a lot less to keep people entertained these days? I try to watch some of the garbage my nephews are into and I can't stand it. They all have the same, thick-lined aesthetic, and mindless, boring stories. It was great with Dexter and Powerpuff Girls, right? But EVERY FREAKING CARTOON doesn't have to look exactly the same.

The Dexter, Powerpuff, and Ed, Edd, N' Eddy era was good. The crap on nowadays is ... not entertaining. Then again, maybe it's because we've grown up.

Back in theday the cartoons that were produced--especially the ones by Warner Bros. in the early to mid 90's had great writers that made stories that appealed to older viewers, but were still friendly to younger viewers. These days, it just seems that Warner Bros. Animation is a mere shadow of it's former self. The only choices kids have now is between Nicktoons or Cartoon Network....some choice.

Some of the kids shows today seem really retarded to me. Back in the late 80's and early 90's, at least TV shows were fun and cool, now half the kids shows make it seem like kids are stupid weak minded idiots. Anyone who has seen any of those so called educational shows on TV would agree the people who make those shows must either be doing a lot of drugs, or they just are stupid in general. I think the former would make more sense.

Well, I can go back and look at those shows and still find something enjoyable about them years later. And I'm not just talking about nostalgia, either. The stories and characters were just better in my opinion.

A great example of what I'm talking about. Gargoyles had a terrific story, and good character development. It wasn't afraid to challenge the audience a little, or wrap every thing up in a nice little package each episode.

Damn, y'all taking me back.....

Speed Racer, Thundercats, GI Joe, TMNT, the WB of the '90s, Cops (remember Big bossman, Long Arm?), Transformers, Dragon Ball (channel 69 was the ****), Nintendo 'toons, and then there was stupid, (Karate Kid), then silly and wholesome Disney, Rescue Rangers, etc. Thank God for Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, and Amazon.com. I would go on, but my memory is fuzzy (80s cartoon about teenagers who had cars that doubled as weapons, name were a set of initials, & several 80s anime shows involving robots).

I think it more because we have grown up. I watch the old Power Rangers sometimes, and in all honestly, the acting was horrible and it was entirely LAME. I can't believe i was obsessed with it.

However, some new series have really gone downhill. The old Dexter's Lab was good, but the new is terrible. Same with the Pokemon shows and Power Rangers even more. And they have crap on like Code Lyoko or whatever it is. Nickelodeon is entirely unrecognizable from its older self. Cartoon Network also. Cartoon Network is now about crappy American animes and stupid kids shows. Toonami was awesome back then, but they got rid of that.

I haven't kept up with Nickelodeon, but i think that same would be assumed, but to a lesser effect.

Nickelodeon started going downhill ever since they cancelled a bunch of their cartoons, then Cartoon Network started "fixing" shows like Dexter to make it more "hip" then the new power rangers are just pushing it, Powers Rangers should have ended when Zordon died

Nickelodeon started going downhill ever since they cancelled a bunch of their cartoons, then Cartoon Network started "fixing" shows like Dexter to make it more "hip" then the new power rangers are just pushing it, Powers Rangers should have ended when Zordon died

Wait, Zordon died? When did that happen?

Power Rangers in space, the baddies captured him, and the only way was for the red ranger to destroy his tank think thus killing Zordon

Yeah I agree todays cartoos are just...well....simply put...stupid.

I grew up watching all the original Nick toons,TMNT,Real Ghostbusters,Looney Tunes,Tiny Toonsand just about all the stuff on Nick Jr. too...OH and Beast Wars...man I loved Beast Wars Transformers.

Around 1999,like after Figure it Out and Angry Beavers,Nick just....killed itself.

Everyone should go to Retrojunk.com they have pics and trailers for basicly every old kids show and cartoon.

The TMNT cartoon that started in 2003 was great, dark, deep and detailed storylines...then they brought the simple, family friendly "Fast Forward".

I know some say that because were grown up we no longer find the newer stuff good,but..seriously...even going back and watching the old stuff today is better than the new stuff.

OH yeah I used to watch the Sonic cartoons, waaaaaaay better than the recent Sonic X,I rencently got Sonic SatAm on DVD,the complete series.
