I think it more because we have grown up. I watch the old Power Rangers sometimes, and in all honestly, the acting was horrible and it was entirely LAME. I can't believe i was obsessed with it.

However, some new series have really gone downhill. The old Dexter's Lab was good, but the new is terrible. Same with the Pokemon shows and Power Rangers even more. And they have crap on like Code Lyoko or whatever it is. Nickelodeon is entirely unrecognizable from its older self. Cartoon Network also. Cartoon Network is now about crappy American animes and stupid kids shows. Toonami was awesome back then, but they got rid of that.

I haven't kept up with Nickelodeon, but i think that same would be assumed, but to a lesser effect.

He has sort of a point, but it was the bad editing and noticable cameo shots bewteen the Japanese and American clips that made the show so funny to watch. The acting for the original six rangers were good, but it went down when the original red, black, and yellow rangers were replaced.

As for the suckiness of today's cartoons, if these kids can consider rap as the greatest from of music, Paris Hilton as the ideal woman, and acting dumb as the social standard, I wouldn't be suprised that these kids would buy in to the crap of Spongebob, Camp Lazlo, and made-for-america animes.

Anyone remember ''Science Wizard''? or something.

It was on Nickelodean and this guy would get these really fruity kids ,and they'd help him do science experiments.
we had to watch like 20 episodes last year...

People always remember things better than they were. There are just as much good cartoons of today that there was back in the day. There were terrible cartoons in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. You had Rocko and Doug, now you have Fairly Odd Parents and Spongebob. WB is terrible now, I can tell you that. The only thing relatively good on there is there is Johnny Test. 4kids TV is 4kids TV, which is basically cartoon outsourcing showcase. 4kids sucks, so the shows will suck. I liked the newer Dexters that were made a few years ago ( unless they released new ones, to which I haven't seen them ). Billy and Mandy is great. Danny Phantom is good at times. Um.....yeah. THere are probably a bunch of other ones that I didn't mention.

4kids has the tendancies of taking any foerign IP and raping it, just like WB has the tendency of taking any superhero IP and Teen Titaning it up. If you want the real ish, then watch Justice League and etc. They get it right. The fact of the matter is that you can't find any good cartoons on broadcast television. That's how it is now.

PS. Drake & Josh is very subtly funny. It has the simplistic comedy of an 80s sitcom. Give it a break, it's not even near the worst of the stuff that comes on Nick.

Also, PS. You can't tell me that you can actually look at an episode of Power Rangers now and tell me that it's good. They all sucked. Did I like it when I was young? I loved it. Just putting some stuff into perspective.

I agree. I was watching my cousin (who's 9) who was watching TV and some of the cartoons now are just plain retarded.

I use to watch stuff like TMNT, all the Nick toons (before 2000), Beast Wars, and I watched a lot of stuff on Toonami which was on Cartoon Network like Gundam Wing and Dragonball Z.

Stuff now like the new TMNT and new transformers just looks stupid and is very corny.

Also, PS. You can't tell me that you can actually look at an episode of Power Rangers now and tell me that it's good. They all sucked. Did I like it when I was young? I loved it. Just putting some stuff into perspective.

Are you kidding me? Power Rangers is terrible. The cheesy quality, the terrible actors, the cheesy action ( which was actually stolen from an old japanese series ), the zaniness of the villians. All are qualities that only a child could over look and say it's still a good show, let alone an amazing show. I don't belive you. I honestly think that you can't sit down today and actually like an episode of the power rangers. wether it was made in 93 or in 05.

That's just scraping the bottom of the barell and saying it's better than the shows on TV now. The very bottom. There are shows like the old batman series, and then there is the Power Rangers. There are shows like Rocko''s Modern Life, and then there's the Ninja Turtles. A lot of people like some of the crappiest shows just beucase of that feeling they got as a child, and they fact that they liked the show so much as a child. The new Ninja Turtles sucks, but the old Ninja Turtles was just as cheesy and lacking of quality of any Captain Planet episode. I liked Captain Planet, but I can't honestly sit down today and watch an episode of Captain Planet without having to turn it off half way through.

I actually found an old VHS tape of Power rangers a few months ago, and me and my brother just sat and watched it, it was the original mighty morphin, and of course now it was all cheesy, but I was still entertained I loved it, I loved it more as a child, but the magic was still their.

But I agree with you on Captain Planet, I was watching it last year with some friends and we couldn't help but laugh at how bad it was, but we enjoyed it just as much as if we were kids again.

Oh god, Captain Planet was one of the worst excuses for a superhero ever. Throw a little garbage or toxic waste on him and he loses his powers. What a wuss.

Some of the new cartoons are pretty bad, but this generation definately has better Superhero cartoons. All we had were the Super Friends and the old 70's Spider Man series (which were pretty good). Now, kids have tons of comic based shows that are decent.

I watched the Thindercats, Silverhawks, Transformers, Voltron and GI Joe cartoons growing up, but always got the feeling that they were just on the air to sell toys. I preferred the Battle of the Planets, Star Blazersand Speed Racer cartoons, but they just weren't on very often.
